IVF in Texas - thoughts, costs and recommendations

We are at the point where IVF is a real possibility. We live in the San Antonio area and the RE we are seeing currently has given us an estimate of around $18k for one IVF cycle.  For those of you in Texas who have been down this road - is that about the norm? They told us the medications are a big factor - do you know of any pharmacies that have lower costs than others? Do you have recommendations on IVF clinics for what's included in the price (i.e. some places include ISCI in the price)? We are definitely willing to travel.

I think that sounds about average. I was quoted prices starting at 8,000 plus medications. Medications were quoted at around 3-4000 since my insurance doesn't pay any of the related costs of IVF.

Would you be willing or interested to be part of a clinical trial? There is one that is recruiting at two centers in Houston and one in the Dallas area. http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01417195?term=IVF&recr=Open&no_unk=Y&state1=NA%3AUS%3ATX&rank=4. You can also search around on the clinicaltrial.gov website for other related IVF trials. I have been a patient at Center of Reproductive Medicine for other infertility reasons and I really like my doctor there. Just starting down the Ivf journey so I really can't comment on that.
