VBAC with scarred cervix ?

I had my son via emergency c-section.

He was past due, only 41+4 according to the ultrasound and I requested an NST. His heart rate seemed fine at first but then dropped way low (50) and his life was in danger. I was rushed into surgery, and it turned out the placenta was too old and not functioning well anymore and he had actually been 42-43 weeks far (like my charting and period indicated but doctors did not want to believe me and said my cycle must have been off)...

Anyhow, I had a LEEP in 2010 and my doctor thinks my cervix would not have opened because of it being scarred. He also said my body would have not went into labor on its own. I had contractions since 37 weeks and nothing progressed.

Do you think I should even start considering VBAC? Or is another c-section best in my case? I now someone who attempted VBAC and her baby died, that really scares me.

Ihad my cervix frozen 10 years ago and have had 2 VBACS. I would talk to a midwife and see her thoughts!

After a LEEP, your cervix will most likely develop a ridge of scar tissue. It doesn't mean that your cervix won't dilate but you may need to have your care provider break up the scar tissue. I had a client stay at 3cm for quite some time but the midwife was able to break up the scar tissue during a single vaginal exam and she popped to 6cm!

Scarred cervix from a LEEP *might* have slowed down the birth of my first daughter, but I think it was the OB being too eager to push a very sluggish labor.  I did end up fully dilating, but by then I was utterly exhausted and my daughter's vital signs were stressed (textbook labor to talk mamas out of hospital birth in the first place?) so we did a c-section.

I *did* dilate fully.  I don't think I was in labor for so long, at least by non-hospital standards.  I did have a doctor massage the cervix (yeeeouch!) to supposedly "break up" the scar tissue.  So...???  That birth wasn't a VBAC, but the next one was, and it was shockingly fast.

I think it's a big worry that doesn't necessarily hold upon scrutiny.

I would still try to vbac!!!

My cousin had a vb w/ a leep. It caused her problems and her doctor massaged the scar tissue to break it up.  She said it HURT and she took the epi, but it worked.

I had a scar on my cervix from my cesarean.  Either the doctor cut it by accident, or I tore it pushing.  Not sure, but he put int my operative report that he sewed up my cervix.

One doctor risked me out for vbac bc of that and my large baby.  I went w/ the doctor who told me my chance of it creating problems was 1% and he would break up the scar tissue.  He warned me it would hurt, but no reason to NOT vbac.  I never asked him for a study, but that was what he said.

I vbac'd twice, w/ 14" head babies that came out posterior and pushed a long time.   Please don't give up over a scarred cervix!
