Phew I'm finally caught up with my reading here!

Just got back from my appointment.  I'm 39 weeks today.  My midwife said "how are you doing?" and I just started crying.  I got out of bed every 15-20 minutes last night (that is nowhere near an exaggeration) until about 6:30am.

My midwife did a sweep today, which was surprisingly comfortable, given all I've heard.  She said it was more like a "mini-sweep" though cause apparently my cervix is funnel-shaped, so I'm 2cm dilated on the outside but it gets tighter till it's only about 1cm at the top.  She said she was able to stretch it a little, though.  I go back on Monday for a second sweep.

I'm so friggin' done.

My sweep wasn't painful or crampy either (last time).  I guess everyone's cervixes are different.

Ok, so I've been bleeding since the sweep (not terribly, just wearing a light flow pad) and I just passed this GIANT clot - super dark red.  For lack of a better comparison it looked like a sliver of raw chicken liver (yes, I know, my poetic imagery is glorious); super dark red and almost an inch long and like 0.5cm thick... does this sound normal?!?  Or should I call my midwife?

I'd probably call. Even if its nothing, I'm sure she'd want to know about it. There's no chance its a piece of placenta is there?! Just that the imagery of "liver" brings placenta to mind.

I'm due Tuesday.  My other two were 3 days late and 2 days late, but starting early in this pregnancy I felt like this one was coming early, and I didn't feel that way at all with the last two. I've never had ANY false pre-labor and hardly any BH in the other pregnancies and I've had WEEKS of contractions with this one, and TWO bouts of labor that just abruptly stopped.

So yeah, I don't know what my body is doing, it's really really different this time around.

I'm dreading church on Sunday, because one of my false labor bouts was during church and it was pretty obvious, so I'm going to get there and have to listen to all this "What you're still pregnant?" crap from everyone, but the kids are putting on the service this week, and my daughter has a speaking part and is singing some songs.

DS was 10 days early (born on Thanksgiving 6 years ago!) and I was really, really expecting to go late. It was a little bewildering early in labor because we didn't have the supplies we were planning to have (he was a UC), but once labor got going and after he was born I didn't feel like I was unprepared mentally. He was there. It was wonderful. :) The fact that my mom had to take a shoelace out of one of my shoes and boil it to tie his cord didn't really register when I was holding my baby.

I feel like my unpreparedness last time never really set in until this pregnancy, where preparation has been an obsession for me. I have all my supplies at 35 weeks, and it's bugging me that I can't pick up the birth pool until next Wednesday, even though I don't plan on going into labor for AT LEAST another 2 weeks!

That doesn't sound like plug... I would call.  Did you save it?

I called -- my midwife was totally unconcerned, she said it sounded like mucous plug mixed with bloody show and that it wasn't at all worrisome.  Phew.

I know, I'm so relieved!  At first I was like "I passed a really big clot" and she responded "Oh, like the size of your hand?" After she said that I felt much better about telling her it was just an inch long smile.gif

Like the size of your hand?? If I passed a clot the size of my hand, someone else would have to call for me cause I'd be freaking out like never before.

Thanks for the input.  Both of mine have been 'over-due', but it's good to hear perspective on this.

That's what my bloody show looked like.  But larger.  Freaked. Me. Out.

Omg I know right?!? When she said that I was like "Oh. Oh, GOD no!" The image has been burned into my mind now though...

That's good to know! Yeah I was like "Um, this is a little too weird for me."  Like I told the midwife, nothing even resembling that has ever come out of me before, so it's good to be reassured!

I sure have been feeling like crap since that sweep.  Hard to tell if it's just because of that, or if it's because I had such a wretched night's sleep last night.  I'm sure it's a combination of the two, but I feel so achy and mildly nauseated and even a little feverish (just a feeling, I'm not actually running a fever).  I'm really praying for sleep tonight.

Hello all!  I have been LOL'ing about all the husband stories--which is good cause apparently I needed a laugh!  Mine is really pretty good--but then, frustrating for things that are rather beyond his control, if that makes sense?  I could write a novel on *life with my husband*, but I won't.  He and I are a good team, if pretty strange on the surface, haha.

Still having contrax.  Progressively stronger.  So over it.  Just do something, body!  hammer.gif

One of my local friends is due about 3 weeks after me, and she's sooo convinced that she'll go before me.  I told her, O hell no!  ROTFLMAO.gif

ETA:  when I was bleeding for 7+ weeks after my 3rd birth ('member I mentioned earlier, about how the stupid dr was pulling on the cord??  YEATHAT), what ended the bleeding was me passing a clot that was effing huge.  Like softball-sized.  If the bleeding hadn't stopped pretty much within hours, I would have been even more freaked out.

I see it must be a restless night for several other ladies besides me! Lots of people logged on right now and it's 3:00AM my time. orngtongue.gif  Sending sleepy wishes everyone's way!

I am having serious bought of late pregnancy insomnia.  I have been getting up pretty regularly between 3 and 5 - alas!  I guess it is preparing me for some middle of the night feeds and awake times after babe arrives.

Hope there aren't too many of us in the same boat!

I tossed and turned half the night. I'm so so over having strange, vivid dreams from this pregnancy. Before, it was weird birth/baby dreams. Last night it was about my mom. She was CONVINCED that she has lymphoma because her uncle has it blah blah blah. Anyway, in a way, it was kind of funny because her doctor was talking about how she has Lymph nodes. In my dream, she thought lymph nodes were cancerous tumors. lol.gif And then she goes off on this paranoid tangent about how she must be close to keeling over. And I was like "mom, mom. Lymph nodes are glands that help clear out bodily toxins. You're probably having bad things happen in your body because you need them cleared out and the only way to do that is to massage them and see a specialist." I don't know. Weird. ass. dream!

I have been up since 3!! Weeee!  I'm so annoyed.  I was sleeping just fine, then DH got up to go to work at 3am and woke up DS.  So then of course DS wants to come in our room.  Then he tossed and turned for an hour, then I was hungry, and of course I had to pee 3x.  I finally dozed off after 6 just to wake right back up because DS fell off the bed!  Mercy!  Now we're up!

I have my mother's blessing today.  I'm hoping I am not crabby and tired!  eyesroll.gif
