Think Birth Control Causes Infertility??

I was just wondering,  as I have always been against taking birth control.  It seems like in today's world there is an increasing amount of infertility issues. Is it in something we're eating? Is it in something we're washing with? The one explanation that I can conclude is the popularity of birth control throughout the years, and now-a-days the age that it is administered, may cause issues. Birth control has the ability to shut down your menstruation, and for conception your period is vital.  Organs in the human body tend to shut down if it is not used, and if birth control is used for an extended amount of time (months, years..) then I'm sure that has something to do with it. Any Input? How many of you have taken birth control, and for how long? and do you have infertility issues?

I think that the infertility issues so many face are due to many reasons. Chemicals in our environment, a complete change in diet, gain in weight in the population, DNA mutations, etc. For example, chemical exposure during pregnancy can effect that child's fertility when they grow up. I did use the pill for a few years, and had an IUD for three years after I had my daughter. It took 9 months to get pregnant with DD, 13 months to get pregnant again, then I miscarried and got pregnant soon after. I think that if anything, the IUD messed with things more than the pill did. I also carry genes that cause a predisposition to PCOS, and my mother had fertility issues for other reasons. I didn't get a full work up because I got pregnant so soon after the miscarriage, but likely will after this pregnancy.

I blame the birth control-- other than being on ortho-lo for 3 years and Nuvaring for 6 years, I have nothing wrong with me- tubes are clear, no endo, no pcos, I eat healthy, exercise, 19 bmi, low stress... I always think if I had never used BC that I may not have IF. I know there are a lot of other factors, but looking at my history, what stands out is longstanding BC use. Bah!

I'm not sure if it is because of BC, but I think it might have played a factor for me and I hate that I ever messed around with my body like that. I have PCOS, but never had any symptoms of it until around 4 years ago. I went on the pill (Allesse) when I was 17, took about 6 mos off when I was 20 and was on it again until 23. I always had regular periods before starting BC, they were spot on..I could tell you the exact day/time they would start and then of course when going on birth control they followed those cycles. Never any problems until I stopped for that 6 months and I didn't get one at all (dr said the only way to make them normal again was to go back on), and then when I stopped for good I would have ONE period every 6 months to 1.5 years. I'm not saying the pill caused my PCOS, but ti's possible that it triggered something or my body become too reliant on it. It could all be a coincidence and other factors, but I still regret ever going on it.
