Who has had a home birth with Madeleine Portuondo on Oahu?

I've seen lots and lots of recommendations for her and Dr. Kimata for home births, but it seems like the recommendations for her are mostly from people who've used Lori (Dr. Kimata) and just mention both of them together, since they have their practice together. The only mention I found on MDC of someone saying they had actually used Madeleine posted that she had a bad experience. I don't know the nature of that experience, so I can't really determine if it's a personal preference sort of thing or what. I'd love to hear from anyone who has used her services as a midwife, whether you would recommend her or not. You can message me if you aren't comfortable talking about it in a thread. Thanks so much!

Did you find the information you were looking for? I am also wanting to know if there are MDC members who have used her and can recommend her.

I initially hired Dr. Madeline because Dr. Lori is SOOO BUSY that I figured I would end up with Dr. M anyway.  She is ok.  She is not very warm and fuzzy so if you are looking for that, then you may be disappointed.  She knows her stuff.  She delivered 3 of my friend's babies and they all said she was great.  She has had no hospital transfers due to emergencies as of last year when I met her.

I ended up not using her as I opted to do an unassisted birth.

But I think her prices are fair and she is ok.  just not super personable.... :)
