i've been having abdominal pain and constipation for a while and got an x-ray about 2 weeks ago. the x-ray showed a distended colon with no obstruction or perforation. i saw a gi specialist a few days after x-ray who held the x-ray up to the ceiling and basically said "i'm not an expert at reading these. let's schedule you for a colonoscopy. btw, you have a higher risk of perforation from the procedure because you already have scar tissue (i had most of my sigmoid colon removed in 2004 because i was perforated and leaking into my abdomen)."i

 

i'd rather try some non-invasive things first before submitting to general anesthesia and an increased risk of complications. i'm trying to do the GAPS diet, using some raw meat and fat. i'm trying to do the introduction but without adding vegetables; any fiber seems to be causing me pain.

 

breakfast: i had some grass-fed beef tongue soup in broth, pickled herring, scrambled egg, 1 piece of bacon (bad because i cooked it in the pan), and 2 raw egg yolks with a little coconut cream concentrate, raw grass-fed beef suet and about 1 tsp Bubbies raw sauerkraut

 

lunch: more beef tongue soup with broth, 2 chicken wings, 1 oz raw grass-fed beef marrow, 2 pastured pork liver pancakes (liver, eggs, broth, sage, salt) and about 1 tsp Bubbies raw sauerkraut

 

dinner: will probably be some raw marinated grass-fed beef tongue, mostly raw grass-fed ground beef and some broth made from the remaining tongue bits, 2 marrow bones (after removing as much raw marrow as possible which i ate earlier) and a knuckle bone. i will add about 1 tsp of just the juice from the sauerkraut because my belly hurt after both earlier meals today.

 

questions:

 

1. the bacon and chicken wings are neither boiled, raw or fermented. should i drop them for now?

2. any other suggestions for the pain? homeopathy? more fat?

3. any suggestions for increasing fat? i can only tolerate less than 1/4 tsp per day of coconut oil and cannot tolerate milk products any more (though i am willing to try ghee).

4. general experience with distended colon so that i can learn more about how to handle this?

 

i am taking CALM mag with calcium and sodium ascorbate. i will probably be switching to straight magnesium citrate and ascorbic acid and use egg shells with fresh lemon juice to make calcium citrate.
