Hi everyone! Hubby and I just found out we are expecting twins! I'm 13 weeks and had my first ultrasound last week. We were hoping for final baby #4, but got a bonus. :) We have 3 kids, 4.5 year old, 2.5 year old, and a 13 month old. We'll be busy come March. :)
The babies are di/di twins, and I'm hoping to find out the gender at our next ultrasound at 15 weeks. We'll be getting a 3d so I'm crossing my fingers!!
Any must know tips and pointers for being pregnant with two? My previous three pregnancies have been easy as pie, along with the labors (1hr 45min for my third baby). I'm hoping this pregnancy will be easy as well, given the circumstances anyway.

Congratulations!! Â Pregnancy with multiples can be unpredictable, so I would just recommend reading a lot and learning about different options in birthing etc. Â Eat! Â The best thing you can do to increase your odds for a healthy twin pregnancy is eat enough protein and calories. Â It will get hard toward the end, so do your best starting now. Â Also, with the ages of your kids, you may want to start arranging postpartum help now. Â If you can get someone(s) to come in a few hours a week and let you grab some extra sleep and maybe toss a few loads in the washer for you, you'll be golden. Â
Â
My twins were born last March, so it's kinda neat to see you are due in March, too. :D Â
Â
Also, there should be a pregnant with multiples thread in this forum somewhere, so maybe look for that. Â It's nice to connect with the others.
Thanks for the welcome!
I wasn't able to find a pregnant with multiples board. Just the due date clubs. Can someone point me in the right direction? I'd love to connect with others pregnant with more than one!
We live a good 1500+ miles from any family, so I'm hoping we can get some good help from the military community here. I'm terrified of life after pregnancy! My mom is planning on coming for Easter, but that could be a good month after the babies are here. Hopefully my mother in law, or sister in law can come soon after they're born. Otherwise it's just us. I don't know how we'd do it though- especially once dh goes back to work!
Â
My appetite has finally returned. It left for 3-4 days after finding out about the twins. I was a wreck! But now I'm excited :) And able to eat!! I've read about the protein intake. Do you know if protein powders are safe to mix in with a smoothie or something? I'll definitely be talking to my doctor at our next appointment.

Protein powder was a life saver toward the end when I just couldn't eat anymore. Â I like to toss frozen fruit in it. Â Yum.

Thanks ladies!! After successfully nursing my last two babies for close to a year each, I am determined to feed these babies as well. Before we found out about the twins, I had been telling dh that I'd never be able to wean the baby since it's our last- I'd be hanging on to everything that made it a baby forever! hahah I guess there's a reason they say the babies of the family tend to be spoiled. I'll definitely check out the breastfeeding book. I already purchased the one by Dr. Luke :)
