what time does your child wakeup/go to bed?

Thread Starter

what time do your kids get up in morning even on weekends? and what time do they go to bed?

my kids go to bed 630-7 and get up around 8-830 but mil says they get up to early.

what about your kids?

DD is 16 months and goes to bed shortly after 8. She's always up before 7. I'd love it if she slept longer but... she just won't do it no matter what time we put her down.

I don't think 8 is too early for kids to get up at all. It sounds like they get enough sleep.

I'm pretty sure anything past 8am would be a luxury for most parents!

My 1.5 year old goes to bed at 6:30 and is up between 6 and 7.
My 3 year old goes to bed at 7 and is up between 6 and 7.

My DD is 27 months. She goes to bed about 9pm and wakes at 7- 7:30 or so. She naps for 1.5-2hours in the afternoon.
I doubt there are very many kids that wake up later than 8 or 8:30am. Except teenagers!
I would LOVE for my DD to sleep until 8:30 on the weekends.

Our DD is 21 months and goes to bed between 8 and 9, and wakes up around 9 or 930 and takes a nap from 2pm to 5 pm.

DS (2.5) goes to bed between 7:30-7:45. He awakes at 7:30 some days, 8 other days, 7 other days. It varies. We have him play with toys in bed until 8. We backed his bedtime up recently by about 15-20 min and it was a positive change to make.

There is no weekend or weekday for him...it's all the same.

Our guy has NEVER slept past 7:30am.  The vast majority of the time he is awake sometime between 5:45am and 6:30am and he goes to sleep between 7pm and 8pm.  I am amazed that your kids sleep so late!  Lucky!

8:30 seems late compared to most kids I know, especially with such an early bedtime.

My DS gets up very late but also goes to bed very late (11:30pm-10am) which is very odd but apparently that's just how his biological clock is wired -- he's the same as me actually, I did the same thing as a kid & still do.

My 2 year old goes to bed between 8 and 9pm, but sometimes (like last night) he stays up talking to himself or playing quietly until 10pm (an hour after I put him in bed). Typically, he wakes up between 7 and 8:30am. On most days, he'll also sleep 2-3hours in the afternoon.

2 year old DS goes to bed between 7:30 and 8pm and usually gets up between 6:00 and 6:30am. He takes a nap (1.5 to 2 hours) in the afternoon. He has never slept past 7am, and his schedule is the same regardless of weekday/weekend. I dream of the day he will sleep until 8am!

My 2 1/2 yr old DD gets up at 8/8:30 almost like clockwork, so we use that to determine her bedtime. She seems inclined to be night owl like her daddy, so I can't push up her bedtime too far or she pops up and wants to go hang with him. I feel good if she's asleep by 10pm, in bed by 9:30.

She takes up to a 2 hour nap in the day, starting anywhere from 2pm to 4pm. When she was younger I tried to get her on a more "socially compatible" sleep schedule, pushing it earlier, but this is where she gravitates back to. It's ok with me! I like the hour to myself in the mornings, though DH and I do miss our evenings.

My 2.5 yr old gets in bed at 7:30/8:00 but sometimes sings/plays to herself for an hour or more.  She wakes up at 7:00/7:30 like clockwork, and takes a 1.5-2 hr nap at 12:30 every day.

Two 3 year olds here and they go to bed around 6:30-7pm and wake around 6:30am (so about 12 hours).  My MIL also says they get up too early which is why when she's here she babysits for a night and keeps them up late so they'll "sleep in" and then proceeds to sleep through their wake up at 5am and then leaves early enough the next day so that she doesn't see the meltdowns occuring at the end of the day eyesroll.gif.  We're pretty happy wih them going to bed early, having the evening free and waking up early as my dh is up for work and we have two older dc's to get ready for school anyways.

My DD is 22 months, she goes to bed at 8:30-9:00, and wakes around 8:30-9:00, some days she even sleeps til 10. She also naps for 1.5-2 hours in the afternoon.

IMHO, I don't think there is a "too early" cut off that can be used for all kids. My DD is 21 months old and goes to bed around 8-8:30 and wakes up around 7:30 during the week and sometimes a bit later on the weekends. 8:30 is actually "too late" for her in that she doesn't want to nap until really late and then doesn't sleep well at night. I think it varies for each child.

It's bizarre-o to me that your MIL thinks 8 - 8:30 AM qualifies as "too early"! I would jump with joy if either of my kiddos slept that late. Occasionally after a long run of crazy late nights in the summer my 9 YO will sleep until 8 AM . . . she got up at 6:30 AM for years, no matter how late we put her to bed. Now she sleeps 8:45 PM to anywhere between 7 - 7:30. My 3 YO sleeps from 7:30 - 7:45 to about 7 AM on a good morning; gets up as early as 5:45 on a bad morning. She always naps about 1.5 hours in the afternoon.

Tell your MIL to go fly a kite! Your kids clearly have their own set sleep pattern, and may I say, you are lucky!winky.gif

DS7 goes to bed about 830-900.   He is up at 630-700

DD's go to sleep about 730 and are also up about 730.

YDD is 19 mos and takes about a 2 hr nap in the afternoon.   Sometimes she will go back to sleep when ODD wakes at 730.  And she wakes about 830 then.

Same on the weekends.....   ODD doesn't nap, but I do make her nap on wknds sometimes.  She needs it.   Sometimes I will also let DS stay up late and watch a movie/play game...etc on the wknds.

DD1 goes to bed around 9 and wakes up between 9 and 10.  Up until 6 months ago she went to bed at 11 and woke up between 10-11.

Wow!  You are lucky, I think they sleep in late!  My 18mos old goes to bed at 7 and wakes up between 6-6:30, though on a really really rare occasion he'll until 7...
