Soaker skirtie

Hi there,

another question here, I am planning to make a soaker skirtie out of wool, but since the wool is so expensive I would like to use a non-woolen material for the skirt, as in cotton. Do you think that would work, or would it leak?

Any ideas?

I think if you added made it with a waistband and captured the skirt in with the body of the soaker it has potential to leak.  If you just added the skirt to the outside it should be ok so long as you use polyester thread.

I wouldn't use any sort of fiber with wicking/absorbing properties, such as cotton, bamboo, or silk. You could probably get away with using acrylic yarn, which is likely the cheapest option anyway.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to sew the soaker... and I don´t really want to use anything plastic. Maybe I´ll just go for repurposed wool.
