Good Morning! I'm on fire this morning, getting stuff done, cleaning, purging, organizing, so I started a new October Dingo thread too!
Plady ~ you remain in my thoughts and prayers this week
.
Zub ~ I'm so happy for you!
tjsmama ~ sounds thoroughly exhausting there in the postpartum unit. Get some rest, Mama.
I am supposed to run 10 miles today, but my hip really hurts for some reason. I'm going to try to run it, but if it's too sore, I give myself permission to cut the run short and not injure myself further!
Hello October!
How about an RR? I ran about 3k of a total 7k run/walk today. It was ridiculously hot and humid and I did the rubberized trail around Safa Park, plus the walk there and back. Woot!
But also found out dh will remain in KSA for 10 more days...Boo!

I'm here. My inlaws are leaving (left?) today. I need a vacation from my last two weekends. yuck.
I signed up for a running group to run M and Th nights 530-630 in a C25K kind of program.
Hugs to everyone who needs them.
Zub keeping my fingers crossed for you. The new house looks great. So.very.jealous.
Jo: let's just pretend like 10 days out of town is 10 fewer days in town over the duration.
Back to work. I have a ridculous amount of work to get done. I can't do like geofizz and unplug my internet cable because much of it centers around online teaching.

Dragged myself out for 4.5 miles this morning. I need it. The weight has got to start going the opposite direction. I'm exhausted, but it felt good to be out in the crisp fall morning air. I wish it was a little MORE crisp. I should not need my air conditioning in October. Sheesh. I'm going to go broke from the electric bills this year...

Happy October, mamas! Here's to autumn...my absolute favorite season. And in honor of the newly (very) crisp temps outside, chicken pot pie is on the menu for tonight (with mashed potato crust, of course).
The best thing about the long run is the next day you don't have to feel guilty about NOT getting up to run.

Nick - mm, chicken pot pie. Can you shoot me the recipe?
JayGee - Yay for getting things done! Take a pause on the 10 miler if you're not feeling up to it! It occurred to me that I should think about coming to St. Louis to run something one of these days. Is there a spring half?
Geo - glad the school has some plans in place, even if it seems like it will take a long time to get sorted out.
NRR - my little dd is less grumpy about reading and doing her homework every day, thankfully. Daily she has to read for 20 min and then write a response based a prompt the teacher gives them. Last week was about "text to self" connections - so they were supposed to say what triggered a "text to self" connection and write about it. This week's theme is apparently "mental imagery" so I'll be interested to see what the prompt is! We found the library, though, and she picked out books herself, and that has perked up her reading desire quite a bit! Am I just nuts that it bugs me that her teacher sends home a weekly newsletter every week in which her students are always referred to as her "critters"?
RR - 12 days until the marathon! I'm progressively more nuts every day.

NRR: Birthday party done. A success. One girl couldnt make it (..at the last minute, as in, we waited an hour for her before leaving for our activity, and then got a call at the pottery painting place, 2 hours after the start of the party! that she would not be able to make it!) so there were 5 girls total, and then DS and DD2. Cake was a success as well: 100% black beans (NO flour of any kind), agave, and then full on frosting
9 years, and one hour ago (after 2 hours of pushing, 3 days of labor!) I became a "mom!", "mama", "mommy", "mim mim", "mo-om", "MO-OM!"
Plady and Zub - you are in my thoughts
RR: I can see exercise in my future. My groin continues to feel better and better. I'm gun-shy, so continue to stay off exercise until I really cant feel lit at all. I read somewhere that you should wait until you cant feel it, and then give it two more weeks.... dont know if I'll do that, but anyway, progress

Zub - If it isn't just too weird coming from me I offer my warmest wishes for a trouble-free and peaceful pregnancy. It's wonderful news, I guess we'll just be the yin and yang of pregnant Dingos.
Gaye - I really laughed at your description of the kid being three months old at birth! That poor mother!
Kitteh - Thank you for the story, it really does help to know that it's not a life sentence of second thoughts. More and more I know it's right. I mentioned in a PM that it's triage really and this weekend that became so apparent. Dd1 is just becoming sucked into such blackness. We're going to consult with her ped later this week about getting her on some meds. She is just in despair as often as not and it's gut wrenching to not be able to stop it. She was crying so much this weekend her poor eyes never de-puffed and she kept telling me that she's just too tired to continue living. At 9. I keep thinking of RM's ds and wondering if he's finding relief from his anxiety yet?
Nic - You're amazing! Enjoy that pot pie, it sounds wonderful!
Nic (my phone wants to autocorrect your name to NIC, because that's the acronym for my work)- the pot pie sounds delicious. I just noticed your avatar- it's lovely. Is it new?
Plady, big hugs to you and to your DD. I hope you can find good help for her.
RR- Yesterday's run was just far enough to clear my mind...and to remember that I was supposed to be taking the violin in for repair. I was out on the trail and already 10 minutes late when I remembered, but had a terrific pace for the run home!

Sparkle - So was that cake vegan and GF? Dd wants cupcakes for her class next week for her b'day and she's got a vegan and a gluten intolerant in her class for the first time. I don't want to just send them fruit cups, it seems sort of depressing. Can I have the recipe? :) Glad your party went well, and happy anniversay of momdom!
DrJen - Yeah, critters sounds so Missouri but I wouldn't really like it much either.

Here is the recipe though. Maybe you can replace the eggs with the flax/water mixture, or EnerG egg replacer? I used the 1/2 c. honey and 1 tsp. stevia option, but subbed agave for honey... Oh, and remember, my cakes did not rise (elevation perhaps). They did not look like the picture, more like the height of my finger, laying sideways....
for C and for you. I hope you can find her the support she needs!- Geofizz

Happy October.
RP and I did 13 on Saturday, and recover has been 1000x easier than 14 was a week ago. It was COLD and windy, surrounded by drunk football fans, and hints of fall.
DD's soccer team won 5-1. Our team is full of space cadets, a few "I'm on the cusp of preteen and I'm in a mood so watch out" attitudes, and yet, the team is full of speed. Even though the soccer skills might not be the best, evidently our team can out run anyone else out there. At 8 and 9, little else seems to matter.
I had something else to report. Can't recall it now. <Sigh>
Much love to my Dear Dingos.
