Here is a chart to help you figure out a good option:
I took two hospital classes with my first (worthless for any rips on how to do it naturally).
I took HypnoBirthing with my second. It teaches that pain is in your head, so a lot of women feel like failures if they have any. It teaches that pushing is a conditioned response instead of a normal part of the process. It teaches that movement during labor is not useful. It teaches virtually no consumer information. Its relaxation exercises are very basic. Thumbs down.
I found Hypnobabies after I grew frustrated with trying to make HypnoBirthing work. Hypnobabies includes everything HypnoBirthing lacks. I will be using it again this time. :)
I have used and taught HypnoBirthing and Hypnobabies. I no longer teach either, but my Hypnobabies were far better prepared and had way better experiences than my HypnoBirthing moms.
Here is my comparison:
In my experience, most women who have experience with both prefer Hypnobabies because it is more flexible, doesn't place value judgments on pain, and teaches more effective hypnosis techniques.
