Hi all,

My 3 year old son has developed asthma in the last few months. He is currently on several western meds, but we are looking for a good experienced classical homeopath who could take our case.. We live in Berkeley, but would travel anywhere within a 1 hour radius - San Francisco, San Jose etc..

Thanks so much!

Olga

Haven't seen him personally (yet!), but I would recommend John D. Melnychuk in Palo Alto.  He's the one who treated/cured Amy Lansky's son with autism.

Thanks! I'll talk to him, although he seems to specialize in autism/neurological disorders etc..

I don't know if you are interested in acupuncture, but Lucy Hu in Santa Clara treated my son for asthma (or ongoing croup - we got multiple diagnosis, but nothing concrete, really).  Whatever it was, his symptoms would clear up after a treatment by her, and usually stayed away for about a month or so.  We have moved form the area, so I no longer have her number, but you can google her if you are interested.

Thanks! Acupuncture would be great.. We are currently seeing an acupuncturist here in Berkeley, but my son wouldn't let her do needles on him, so it's just the acupressure for now and I am not sure if it helps.. Hopefully eventually he'd warm up to the needles..how old was your son when he agreed to acupuncture?

Dr. Elizabeth Korza is my naturopath and I can't recommend her enough. She also does homeopathy. Drs. Stoop and Colby work more specifically with children, and while I don't have experience with them, I've heard wonderful things from other patients.

I think he had acupuncture for the first time when he was 2.  I didn't really explain it ahead of time or offer it, and he didn't agree to it.  She would first give a pretty strong massage on an area of his body (often his back), and then after a bit, sort of pinch up an area and quickly do the needles (and take them out again really quickly).  It seemed like he never realized that it was happening.  He was never upset by it or anything.  It was pretty fast, though - it wasn't like when I would get acupuncture and I would lay still with the needles for a while.  I hope that helps!

Hahnemann Medical Clinic in El Cerrito is a great place.
