There are 3 in our city/area. One in the center of the city, been there 100 years. 1 in East Lansing, on campus. And 1 on the west side of the city, since 1970s. We're looking to buy a house in a few months, and it seems almost impossible to be too far from one of these plants. I did ask some EPA-knowledgable professor at MSU about the disease rates near the oldest plant. He said he didn't have access to that kind of info, but he would say 3 miles distance is fine, and living nearer is probably no different than living near a busy highway. I see the recommendation in various online places on that being 3 miles also.Â

So, I know what "experts" say, but "experts" also say GMOs are fine and amalgams have never hurt anybody. So, pardon me if I don't just go and make a 100+ thousand dollar lifetime investment based on what a couple of "experts" say.

We're looking for a place outside the city, with a few acres, to homestead. One that I love, that is really pretty perfect, is 4.5 miles from the plant on the west side (also about 4 miles from a GM assembly plant), and just over 1 mile from a fairly major highway. I just don't know... WWYD?
