homemade bubble solution

Thread Starter

I am trying to avoid buying the bubble solution at the Target, or wherever, in the little plastic bottles that you throw away, you know? We made a wand with my 3 yo, but the bubble solution we made from glycerin, dish soap and water just didn't work. Does anyone have a fail-safe recipe? Maybe I haven't got the proportions right.

This is probably not the right forum but I figure some crafty moms out there will know just what to do!

TIA.

It could be the ratio of the ingredients.  Maybe you could try this one? http://www.make-baby-stuff.com/how-to-make-bubble-solution.html

Funny, we just made this for the first time a few weeks ago. We never made it because our family is soap and poo-free. We have biokleen dishwashing liquid and used that. After googling for homemade bubble solution, we tried lots of small.batches of different recipes. Most say Joy liquid detergent is best for long lasting bubbles plus adding something like boiled flaxseed water, glycerin, corn syrup (we also tried rice syrup). If you Google, you may find a recipe that works for you. Luckily noone told my sons that the goal was to have ongoing lasting bubbles so they were thrilled! smile.gif

when you use glycerin it is best to let it set a week-works better that way

I agree!  A friend of mine made some and it was much better after it sat awhile.  We were just bubble blowing yesterday.

Where do you buy glycerine?

Check any drugstore or pharmacy. Walmart even carries it I think.
That's interesting about letting it sit a while with the glycerin ...will try another batch before its too cold! My son is loving all the different trial runs! smile.gif
