help needed exemptions Ohio

Thread Starter

My son went to school this yr after being homeschooled.  The school gave me all sorts of trouble.  He is not vaccinated past 1 yr old.  The nurse called yesterday looking for his record.  I was reading some of the schools have there own paper others dont.  They want the name of your religion if you claim a religious conviction and good cause reason if you claim that.  I am not sure at this point which is best to claim.  I am holding them off till Monday if you can offer any help I would appreciate it

Which is best

thank you

Amy

You're in luck.  Ohio has a philosophical exemption.    Here's the specific laws:

It sounds like you just have to write a letter stating you are opposed to vaccines for personal/philosophical/religious reasons and that should suffice.  Hopefully someone from Ohio can give you more information.

Good luck.

Ohio law: "A pupil who presents a written statement of the pupil’s parent or guardian in which the parent or guardian declines to have the pupil immunized for reasons of conscience, including religious convictions, is not required to be immunized."

http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/3313.671

This is the letter I would write:

October 10, 2011

School name

School address

To Whom it May Concern:

I decline to have my child, (insert child name) vaccinated for reasons of conscience.

Sincerely,
