I totally agree with this. I work in a child care center, and I cannot believe how many parents bring their children in sick and try to play dumb. It makes me furious. Some of them are even doctors. We've had some nasty stuff go around, and it lingers because people keep sending their kids to school sick. Then we get sick too, and take it home to our families. Ugh...it's just frustrating and I feel like they should know better. Even if they don't care about others, at least keep your kid home so they rest and recover quicker. /rant
I will say that sometimes it is difficult to tell that a child is sick/how sick they are within the few hours of waking and getting ready for school. I've seen my kids go from being totally fine to very sick within an hour, with little warning that they are sick.
I agree 100 per cent with everything layne says above. Of course I completely understand that some people/child cannot receive vaccines. My niece has an autoimmune disease, preventing her from safely receiving vaccinations. And that not every vaccine in every instance is completely effective. But it is all about statistics and harm reduction.
So yes, I vaccinate myself and my kids to keep other people and their children safe. I do not find the "nazi" argument above compelling at all. Of course I want to keep my children healthy, and I want to keep people in my community healthy--it isn't and either/or but a yes/and proposition.
The "toxins" in the vaccines, at such a small amount, do not worry me, as they say “the dose makes the poison”. Here is a great blog that breaks down the ingredients and explains that at the vaccines contain a very small amount, which are not toxic:
