I just found this interesting... the province I live in is advertising the Flu Shot on this site!

I will be getting it for the first time in my life. I didn't get one with my last pregnancy, and have been selectively vaxing my son, who is 2 1/2 and has only had a handful of vaccines.

The two things that changed my mind were doing a ton of research into flu vaccines and complications from the actual flu, as well as the fact that the last time I had the flu it was BAD. I was too sick to stand for two weeks, got a severe ear infection which resulting in taking two different antibiotics, having an allergic reaction to the antibiotics, and breaking out in hives, which resulted in having to take steroids. I finally ended up with severe bronchitis. It took me months to recover.

I actually went into this pregnancy not wanting it or planning to get it, but then had an overwhelming intuitive sense that I should have it (which led to my research). I've never had that feeling before, and always try to follow my intuition, so I'm just going to break down and get it.

There's no way I'm getting a flu shot.  I don't believe in them to begin with, but to top it off, I tend to get the flu (fairly minorly) every year anyway.  So there's no point.  And now that DH commutes on the train, he brings home every bug that goes around.

nope. kids don't get one either, neither does my husband. We just deal with the illness if and when it comes our way, the same way my parents dealt with it. I want to add that I am not one who is completely against vaxs either. We do a delayed schedule.

I can't even believe they are telling pregnant women to vax! Wow. I haven't read this whole thread but where are the studies proving the safety in that? Even if they have them I wouldn't believe them anyways..so I guess it doesn't matter b/c we have had really bad experiences with vax over here..
