Hi, I'm currently staying home and working with my 3 1/2 yr old DD while on maternity leave. The baby is only 3 weeks old tomorrow, so not much has been happening yet! I used to teach in a Montessori school, so many of the lessons I'm planning are Montessori in focus. We also joined a playgroup which will help us get out and about, as unfortunately there is not much around here for youngsters. I'm looking forward to this year at home!

Hi Tracy,

I'm Kim. I have an almost 4 yo, 2.5 yo and 8 mo old, and we are also doing BFIAR. Last year we just read the books, and this year we have begun doing some lapbooks and/or searching the internet for coloring sheets that go along with the stories. My preschoolers mostly love coloring and cutting right now, so we do a lot of that. Here is a great website for stuff to go along with FIAR if you haven't seen it yet: http://homeschoolshare.com/five_in_a_row_resources.php

There is a home pre-school thread around here somewhere, Ill try to hunt it down for you. There are a bunch of us on there.

I'm Heather, I have a 4 1/2 year old, an almost 3 year old and a 8 month old. We have a go with the flow attitude here. I do the subjects that interest them.. and we change subjects often. It works well for us for the most part although soon Ill start settling into a curriculum of sorts since my DH really wants a set curriculum so he can see what we are doing any given day.

eta- heres the link for the preschool thread http://www.mothering.com/community/t/1329285/is-there-an-autumn-preschool-homeschool-thread-around-for-this-year

Well, we read How to make an Apple Pie and see the world...which I think is actually from FIAR, did some lapbooking and went to pick apples at what we thought was an orchard. Woops! found out we were only at a country store and pumpkin patch. Oh well....still bought some apples and made an apple pie, from scratch :)

Hi! My little guys are 2.75 and 10mo., but with leaning heavily towards HSing past the preschool years, I find myself thinking a fair bit about their learning - esp. the toddler!

We're pretty go with the flow here, too - DS2yrs is doing more in the kitchen with me lately, but aside form that, my goals for each day are lots of outdoor time (1-2 hrs., min) and at least an hour of reading each day, cumulatively. Right now, we're visiting my family in the states, and DS is having a blast getting into the field with grandpa, a farmer, whenever he can!

Right now we are talking about police officers since we live down the street from a police station and a fire station. I think we are going to start talking about fire fighters next. Towards the end of the month we might do some about Halloween and Day of the Dead. In November Im thinking of talking about the military since they are military children (my husband is active duty) and they are always asking questions about the military. Then it depends on what else they ask about. Might do something about Native Americans next month as well. My oldest is looking forward to December since we spend the month doing a lot of fun Christmas activities.. Early next year my husband is coming home so we will be moving to NC so I might work some information in about that as well. All depends on what they want at the time. Makes planning a little harder but it works out in the end.
