Tuesday afternoon I took a nap, woke up, and the baby had dropped; it kept making me have to pee and I couldn't hold it in- I wondered if it was my water breaking, but after checking in the bathroom it was pee. Then I started feeling contractions around 2 a.m. kinda here and there, so I thought, eh, not much is happening. But then they started to get more regular, so I called the midwife at around 3:30 a.m. She said to time them and if they are steady, call back in an hour. So my dh timed them and they were about 1 min long, 4 mins apart, then some were 2 mins apart, and 30 sec. long. So we called her back at 4:30, and she said lets meet at the hospital at 5 a.m.
We were planning a water birth at the hospital. We arrived and she checked me, I was at 4 cm dilation, and as she checked me the bag of waters broke, and there was meconium in it. She then checked baby's pulse and it was at 60- everyone started panicking and saying, we need to get this baby out, now!
My dh and I looked at each other, scared. They told me I would get a spinal or be knocked out completely, and that it wasn't my choice. I started crying and begged them to wait, but they said they couldn't. From then on, the birth was no longer mine- I was whisked away and had a bunch of people doing stuff to me. It sucked and I hated it. When they pulled him out, he had the cord wrapped around his neck twice. I am glad we got him out and he was safe.
Cleo Casey was born at 6:58 a.m. on October 5, he weighs 5 lbs. 11 oz. and is 18.5 inches long.
He is so adorable and sweet. His right foot is turned in slightly, they say it may turn out on its own, and was squished in the womb, or it may be a club foot that will need help, either way the pedi says he will be able to walk and run and play, thank goodness.
