I am 7 weeks pregnant and nursing my 2 year old has become very painful. Any suggestions or words of encouragement would be appreciated. I would like to get through at least the winter nursing in order to prevent illness etc.

You are in the hardest part right now...it WILL GET BETTER!!!!

DS1 was 17mos when I got pregnant and he was still nursing around the clock (like 4-5 times even at night). I did have to set limits. I night weaned him, and then during the day I forced him to "nurse nice" and I tried to avoid sitting in our regular nursing chairs etc...I would also ask if he wanted juice or water or a snack instead...sometimes he would be ok with that.

I am not going to lie-- it hurt SO BAD for like the first 15-20 weeks, but, then after that my milk started to increase again and the pain began subsiding...I went on to tandem nurse. It was so nice being able to calm his tantrums when I was huge and preggo and then I think it helped him bond with his baby brother once we got to tandem nursing (they nursed at the same time from day 3 or so after I gave birth...I have the sweetest pic of them gazing into each others eyes, each with a boob in their mouth) Haha not to mention I nursed him a lot during early labor to get things moving!
