Want to boost my baby's immune system before next injections.

I originally was looking for preservative and/ or adjuvant free vaccines, but after much research discovered that there's really no such thing (at least not in Canada).

So I have opted for a delayed schedule. My baby had his first Pentacel and Pneumococcal at 4 months and the only reaction was a bit of fussiness and lumps at the injection site for 8 weeks.

But now he had his 2nd set at 9 months and he had mild fever for 2 days and diarrhea for 4 days, plus fussiness of course.

I have been feeding him lots of organic berries to help get the Aluminum out of his system, but I wondering if anyone has ideas to help him deal with the next set of injections better. I plan to take him again around 13 months.

Should I request to have the Pentacel and Pneumococcal injections at separate times?

Can I give him echinicea? Would that help? Or vitamin C drops? Or maybe some homeopathics?

No matter what you do, count on some of the aluminum never being eliminated. The best you can do is make sure his bowel is very strong and healthy. An extremely healthy bowel is essential for metal elimination. The berries might get the aluminum out of the organs, but if the bowel isn't very strong, the aluminum will just recirculate back in to the blood and eventually the organs.

So if I were forced to vaccinate, I would (and I already do this anyway) give large amounts of probiotics, daily. I give my kids 450 billion CFU per day (VSL#3).

Also, a lot of water will help the kidneys flush out the aluminum and eliminate through the urine.

I also read somewhere to immediately put ice on the injection site.

Thanks! I will do that. I was considering starting probiotics anyway, as he will be in child care soon.

I would what effect this would have, other than easing the pain obviously.

I am researching this question myself. Here are the notes I've made so far (some C&P'd, and sources might be missing, but you can google the names and probably come up with where the recommendations came from) --

Notes on Vitamins/Minerals/Herbs to use to prepare and help with vaccine response

Vitamin C: 1000 mg/day for several days before and after
Ice pack immediately following vaccination and later at home. Ice reduces inflammation. Alternating heat and cold acts as a pump to bring additional blood flow to the area to aid healing.

Stephanie Cave, M.D.

  • Vitamin A (cod liver oil) 1 tbsp for three days before and on the day of the shot.
  • Vitamin C 100 mg twice daily for infants and 300mg twice daily for toddlers for three days before and on the day of the shot.

Kenneth Bock, M.D.

  • Administer vaccinations only to abundantly healthy children. Postpone the vaccinations if your child is ill, has a fever, was ill within the past week or two, or appears to possibly be coming down with an illness. Any condition that compromises immunity can lead to adverse reactions.
  • Give vitamins C and A, zinc and transfer factor. Start the supplements one to two weeks before the vaccination. Also give them on the day of the vaccination and for two weeks after. At a minimum, give them the day after. Dosage should be appropriate to age, size, and other indications. Be especially sure not to give an excess of vitamin A. Vitamin A should preferably be given as cod liver oil.
  • If your child is experiencing a notable allergic response at the time of the vaccination, such as seasonal allergy, postpone the vaccination until allergic symptoms have cleared.

Wow thanks!

I realize this is the selective and delayed section, so feel free to ignore this question, lol, but sometimes I wonder, if parents feel like they have to do so many things to make it safe for their children to be vaccinated, at what point does it no longer make sense to vaccinate?

IMO, if a child is healthy and has a balanced diet, giving all of this extra "stuff" isn't necessary. I give some extra vitamin C, like I do if they have a cold, and warm baths to help with the soreness, but that's about it.

I must say though: he had injection site lumps that lasted for 8 weeks? I've seen them last a few days, maybe a week tops, but that's concerning to me.

Well I am doing what I feel is the safest thing for my baby after much research and discussion with my husband. I personally believe that vaccines are generally safe, the question I came to this forum with is more about his comfort.

the lump wasn't painful or red or visible as swelling above the skin, it was in the muscle... the same thing happened to me with my last DT booster. From what I know about pharmacology, I believe it is the medication crystalizing in the muscle and being slowly absorbed. I told my family doctor about it, and she wasn't concerned.

Oh, okay. If its not red or painful then I wouldn't be concerned either. Gently massaging the lump should help it go down quicker.
