Any Boulder, CO mamas out there?

I've heard that Pertussis can get bad in Boulder and our 2 month old ds has yet to be vaccinated - still doing research.  What have you decided to do and why?  I'm scared by both the option of not vaccinating and of vaccinating.  Thanks for the help!

Sodium ascorbate works just as well for babies as it does for kids and adults. I'm not in Boulder, but I thought I'd share that info.

Yes, I am in Boulder and have raised two completely unvaxed babies (now 14 and 11). I personally didn't give it a second's thought. My unvaxed two (I have an even older one who was minimally vaxed) did get an extremely mild case (not officially diagnosed) as younger children, five and seven, if I remember correctly. They had an irritating cough for a few weeks but were never "sick".

I am wondering why you think Boulder is more prone to more cases of it than anywhere else?  And it is wise to do your own research on the issue and not rely on who got what and why did they get it, OR someones else's opinion on their child and what their reaction is/was... vaccinating is not a one-size-fits-all type of medical procedure,  just like circumcision.  All boys do not get circumcised, parents inform themselves, and then make a decision as to whether they want to do that...its the same with vaccinating(unless there is a religious preference opposing).  Research the prevalence of the disease in question, and look up in your area how and where these diseases are located in your part of colorado..i am from colorado, as is my DH, i had 3 kids out there  in boulder and limon, and i have seen pockets of WC, measles while i lived there in the 90's...there will always be a pocket of something where ever you are. My children are unvaxed and are some of the healthiest kids i've seen. Dr Baumgartner in Boulder is with a terrific pedi group....they used to support the parents choice on the vax issue, don't know if they have the same attitude anymore due to insurance constraints.(we don't live there anymore)..

The best way to assure yourself  you are doing the right thing is to keep researching the issue and asking questions.  You can't take back a vaccine once it's injected, but you can always go back later and get them, if you wish..
