Activities & Shopping for Tot Stuff in Anchorage

Hi Momma's,

  I live on the Kenai Peninsual and we will be in Anchorage for 4 days this coming up week. So I was wondering what are the toddler-friendly activities (15 month old, walking well) we can participate in? Such as storytimes at libraries, playgroups outdoors/indoors, toddler friendly parks and anything else you can think of.

Additionally, we are doing some shopping. I am looking for a carrier for my toddler and would like to try out some brands I have in mind. Are there any shops that have them on stock? I recall there being a new story on Diamond and I know about Kid-to-Kid on Diamond and Once Upon a Child, any other stores I should be aware of?

The Anchorage Museum at Rasmusum (Sp?) center has a great interactive kids area! Some things are a bit 'old' for a toddler but there is also a play area.

Bouncin' Bears, or other, indoor playscapes with those big inflatable slides & such.

We like to spend time in the toy stores that have 'display' tables where the kids can play with the toys. LOL I think Over The Rainbow might be a good one to check out?

Lots of parks & playgrounds if you want to be outdoors.

that's about all I can think of. We live in Wasilla so Anchorage area is not my expertise.

There's Spoiled Boutique on Dimond, but I've never been in there... maybe call ahead. There's a new park being dedicated on Friday by Westchester Lagoon. Agree that the imaginarium has a good kids display. there's arctic playgroundz indoor playground... depends on the age of your kiddo, really.

Spoiled is not kid friendly.  Has nice stuff but not kid friendly.

Classic Toys in East Benson has an awesome selection of toys.

ah, good to know. like I said i've never set foot inside, just gotten gifts from others from there :)
