A2E, talk to me about putting by for winter? I really need to get into that. My first attempt at gardening this year was a major flop, though I learned a ton and had lots of fun doing it. Hey, I owe you guys a favorite recipe, don't I? Hmmm. Also, special bonus question for the bakers: Do you have a favorite brownie recipe? Brownies are my favorite dessert by a huge margin and though I have test-baked at least 20 different recipes, none were perfect and most weren't even great. My next test recipe is Mark Bittman's. But if you have a favorite...do tell!

AFM, 8dpo and the progesterone supplements I'm on are making me crazy. Crazier than they ever have before, ugh.
Oh goodness, I wouldn't even know where to start, gardening/canning is one of my favorite subjects,lol... but we have a small garden at our townhome and a larger one at my sister's house (plus we get fruit from her trees) where she has 2 acres. We grow about 6 different heirloom tomatoes (the type changes every year and we had a TERRIBLE year for tomatoes this year), jalapenos, habeneros, Italian Fryers, Garlic, Sweet corn, lettuce, carrots, potatoes, onions, squash, pumpkins and zuchinni.
We can tomato sauce, salsa, ketchup and stewed tomatoes. (We are huge lovers of all things tomato in this house so that's our biggest crop) Jalapenos (which I definitely suggest growing, they are SUPER easy!), Garlic (also SUPER easy to grow... I planted mine 3 weeks ago and they grow throughout the fall then go dormant in the winter and start growing again early in the spring and are ready by late spring... I literally do nothing with it other than plant it in the fall and it just takes off), Corn and Corn relish (my favorite condiment). We have a huge canning system and most of the time my whole family gets together to do "canning sessions" since we all share my sister's garden and root cellar, it's just easiest to do it all together and it's a blast! We usually have about 6 canning systems going on at once!
We freeze a lot of the squash, pumpkin and zuchinni that isn't used for canned things, like pumpkin butter, apple butter, jellies, etc. We have a large deep freezer, a root cellar (at my sister's that we share with her) and a huge storage area that we use for our canned things. Once I get my canning done, I'll have to take a picture of my storage room. It's so awesome to have all those goodies in there knowing I made them and it's all natural, yummy ingredients!
See, I told you.. I can talk about this topic forever if prompted. This is why I love fall so much... I rarely have time to think about anything other than "putting by"... including TTC! :P
As for brownies, I personally love a nice, simple recipe... and you can't beat hillbillyhousewife.com for simple. I like her because most of her recipes, I usually have the stuff in the house but
here's the recipe I use. We usually add peanut butter chips to them... just makes it yummier, IMO!
