Okay, I need some help with a friend. Baby girl is a week old today and they're having latch issues. Here's what she just said (with permission to repost):
"This morning at church I was trying to nurse her in the football hold but it was hurting my back so I switched to cradle and she opened wide, flanged lips, latched on and nursed for 20 mins with no clicking. Just now I tried the same thing....tickled her top lip with my nipples, waited until she opened up wide, shoved boob in and as soon as she starts sucking I can feel my boob slowly being pushed out of her mouth and then suddenly she's got nipple and it hurts like a Mofo. Or shell start sucking and make the clicking sound and wiggle her head all over the place an lose her latch."
Her son had tongue tie and she's pretty sure this baby has TT, however, she went to get it clipped and they said it wasn't bad enough...ugh, so I think she's trying to figure that out. I told her to get her palate evaluated. I *think* baby has a recessed chin (my friend lives across the country so I can't see baby in person and it's hard to tell on the pictures because she's got the cutest little fat cheeks EVER!!! lol).Â
Any ideas? Throw all of them at me that you can. She's really really really having a hard time. I wish I could just magically fix it for her! :(

ETA: Looks like shallow latch is a big issue.
