Full Moon Babies

Thread Starter

How many babies do you think we'll see born during the full moon? I've read that there's a 3 day window where births increase (day before full moon, day off full moon, day after full moon). Since my due date is on the full moon, I'm really hoping that Sunburst decides to come out either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday!

I vote ME!  Tonight would be great.  Sign me up, please!

I'm having one!!!! Not because of the full moon though, we go in for induction tomorrow morning. I'm just hoping it won't be super crazy busy in there!

I hope to heavens I do!  I'm hopefully getting a memb. sweep on Wednesday, so fingers crossed!

I am so hopeful for this!!!

That would be great! My EDD is Thursday, which is my Dad's birthday, so that would be cool too.

Oh!  We got married on a full moon, it's sort of romantic to think that our first child could be born on a full moon too.

We go in tomorrow afternoon for our induction! I didn't even realize it was so close to a full moon!

My mw said she actually sees more births happen the day or two after the full moon--something about the fullness drawing on the amniotic sac?

I am hoping, but my EDD is 10/28 so I am a tad early. I told myself I wouldn't be hoping too early this time around but I am so ready! Baby could be ready at 37 wks 5 days,,,,,,,

I really, really wish for this but I doubt it.  My water broke with DS 2 days before the full moon, but it was the full moon AFTER his EDD.  Hoping that won't hold true for this LO--the next full moon is November 10 or something like that!

Oo, oo, I wrote a poem about this in college. I'll share. (I'm not really close to my due date yet, just being full term today, so I don't expect a baby this week) but here's my verse:

This moon rolls out the tissue clouds in blood red gestation and grows over an ocean,

churning the tides

tripping up time,

ripping up reason, like children do.

And under the blue when the fire's out and the water's cooled in its earthen pot

the sky is a still, unblinking eye

and the babe its brightest spot.

Oh, to be alive: I want to gurgle like a child!

To be blanketed, naked, in a shifting of the tides.

A friend of mine is a nurse who used to work in L&D and in the NICU, and she swears it's true about births and the full moon.  Considering I've been having contractions for 2.5 weeks now and my EDD is Thursday, it could happen!

I was just looking up when the full moon was this morning! I really hope it is true, otherwise I have a feeling they will be pressing induction at the end of this week!

I'm really hoping for a full moon baby. I'm 38+2 today, but OH. SO. READY. to be done. DH has a big project at work on Wednesday...so I'm hoping that labor starts Wed. evening. *fingers crossed*

I'm actually hoping I won't because my oldest has an important appointment on Friday. But my 10 yr old (aka the intuitive one) swears I will be having her tomorrow (the 11th) because of the moon. My BH have been much more frequent and stronger since I got adjusted a few hours ago so who knows.

I just remembered that one of the meanings of the name we've chosen (Ayla) has to do with the halo of light you see around the moon sometimes.  How perfect would it be if she was born with the full moon?

Rosemary, that is a really lovely poem. I especially like the opening and closing lines. (And seriously, woman, is there anything you cannot do?)

Beautiful poem.  Sign me up to be one of the ones that gets their labor triggered!
