My daughters and I have been obsessing about calling this baby Phineas if he's a boy. We are all fans of Phineas and Ferb. DH (who was Dr Doofensmirtz the last two Halloweens) isn't as thrilled. LOL It is fun to be contemplating a fun name rather than one wrapped in family drama. Among other things he says it will set up our oldest daughter to be always telling on him and that people will want to call our other daughter Ferb. :)
We finally have a list of names. We don't share our names IRL so it's exciting to share some here!
For boys, we have:
Zachary
Isaac
Jacob
We're leaning toward Zachary Owen right now. Owen is a big family name on dh's side but he doesn't like it for a first name so we are thinking of it for a middle.
For girls:
Isabella
Emma
Sarah
Claire
Emily
Lily
I know a lot of them are popular so part of me had been trying to find less popular names, but I also don't want to not use a name I love just because it's popular. I also haven't heard some of these as much around where we live in the last year or two. Some seemed more popular 4-5 years ago. We're probably ruling out Isabella (dh was worried about the popularity of the Twilight movies now). I'm "eh" about Sarah but dh likes it. I like Lily but it feels weir saying it (I feel like I say my "L" sound weird or something - I don't, but I have to concentrate on it). So for me, I am leaning toward either Emma or Emily, or Claire.

Jacob and Lily are on the charts right now Lily was #6 I forget what Jacob was. I would say Issac and Claire would be the rarer names as far as popularity goes right now. ![]()
Thanks for the feedback on Felix!
Masel - I don't know Phineas and Ferb but I like Phineas a lot.
Callie - Out of your list I like Claire and Isaac the best.

Our new little one will be Zenevieva Annette, we will call her Zen for short. I am in love with the name, everyone else hates it.

Ahh give people time. Once they see that adorable little face they won't care if you named it uncle Bob.
I had a bad reaction to Dorothy that almost bordered rude. LOL
The lady at the phone co. was like "What about Dasia (Dayzcha? Daisha?) or Dakota? Those are nice names" and then when I said I prefer more classical names she acted like she didn't hear me and continued on naming these names that there are no way I would name my kid. LOL
I really got the hint she didn't like Dorothy. Shes a sweet lady typically, so I won't hold it against her. LOL
I know older women. Once they see that sweet bundle of gushiness, indeed...it really could be named Uncle Bob and they'd still squee and aww.
So, don't worry if people don't like the name.

My DD's name means Angel (not in literal translation but in the names meaning) and a friends neighbor was like what is your DDs name and I said Aniela (ahn yell a) and then she gave me a weird look so I said "It's Polish it means angel" and she says "Angel would have been nice!" Umm...no. People will always have something to say! I love DDs name and it is special to me b/c my mom passed away when I was a kid so DD won't have any Polish culture in her life besides what I bring to it. I felt she needed a good Polish name to honor my mother.

I so love Aniela. Really, if I had any Polish ancestry in me - this baby might have it as a middle name. Some one will always have something to say, I agree.

We had sort of settled on Fern for a girl and Magnus for a boy. I'm not sold on Magnus, DP loved it last time too- but we ended up with a girl, so I didn't have to make a decision! He was a huge veto-er of other boy names, I couldn't come up with anything that he liked...
I am now loving Amelia though- and it goes well with our other two girls names- they both end in "a"... Hmm- :)
Fern is cute. It makes me think of the "love fern" from How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days. I love that movie. :)

We just found out we are having a boy! So it looks like I get my little Felix. It is a name I am so in love with and think it fits me and my husband well. It is known but not too popular (ranks in the 300s), means happy and fortunate, and has five letters with no obvious nick name like both of us. I am excited to use Fox as a nickname and might decorate his nursery in trees, foxes, owls, squirrels. Of course, now that I know I am having last minute doubts after seeing a low ranking on some sites... I don't think I would drop the name either way, but do you think it is a generally "likeable" name?
I like Felix! I would have been on our boys list, but SO has a friend named Felix.
I think Jacob is #1.
I'm really loving the name Ellis (for a girl) this week. SO isn't so fond of it, but he said he wouldn't fight me too much on a girl's name. What do you all think of it?

I know I'm having a boy and should just quit looking at girl names, but I have already named 2 boys and girl names are fun, so here are my fav girl names at the moment:
Harlow (nickname: Lola)
Beatrice
Aislin
Ella/Ellie/Eleanora/Nellie
Annie
Imogen
Adalaide
Adele (I swear I liked it before the singer got so popular!)
Hadley (stolen from Sarah's list)
DH and I had pretty much decided on Declan for this baby. He likes it way better than Deacon which was my 1st choice. But then the other day I mentioned Deacon again and he just said "So are you hard set on that instead of Declan?" I said no, of course not, I want us both to be happy with the name we choose...but his comment makes me feel like I am going to get to make the final call on the first name and he'll go with whatever I choose.
DH keeps suggesting super hero names for a middle name (Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker) and I'm just going to let him pick whatever super hero name he wants as the middle name and go with it. Seriously. He loves comics and is a cop because he wanted to fight crime like Batman since he was a kid, so we'll probably have a little Declan Clark or something...which I actually really love!!

Meredith, (pardon my ignorance) are you pronouncing Declan Dee-clan or DECK-lan? For me Deacon and Declan sound quite different because I would pronounce Declan "DECK-lan" I like the softer Deck beginning rather than the Dee beginning, but that's totally my personal preference :)
I noticed you have Beatrice on your list of girl faves....my 7 year old is named Beatrix and it's been really fun having a name that is rarely used, but easy to spell and pronounce. I like Beatrice too.
We are pretty set on naming our little girl Amelia. Like others have said, it's sad when your personal fave happens to be going through a popularity surge. In my case, Amelia is the "other" girl name my mom was considering for ME. She's told me my whole life that she and my dad felt that they would decide after my birth whether I was the "glamorous type" in which case I would be named Marisa (Ma-ree-sa) or if I was the "old fashioned type" in which case I'd be Amelia. lol I guess you know what they decided! I'm not saying I think my own baby will be the old fashioned type (I still giggle at their dichotomy of baby girl "types"), but I have always liked the name.

Amelia is growing in popularity but it is SO CUTE too. If you really really love it don't worry about it's number on the popularity charts.

Meredith, I know a little Deacon and he is the cutest, chubbiest little cherub baby ever!
I'm not sure if I've mentioned our names here earlier but we have Oscar Steven for a boy and Della Grace for a girl. I'm completely sold on Oscar, but there is wiggle room with the girl name. We also like Caroline.
Tomorrow we find out (hopefully!) if it's a boy or a girl! So we can start using the names!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!

I like Ellis. I actually know a girl named Ellis that was conceived on Ellis Island & that is why her parents chose the name. Super cute.

Great list! I also love Harlow! My sister is dead set on using Winslow for a future little girl, she's not even pregnant yet but I know I'd be upset if someone stole my favorite name, or used a name really close to it. Ya know? I think right now, it's between Hadley and Ellis. They both "go" with DD's name (Reese).
Declan Clark is super cute! :) You know, there's a real life Metropolis, Illinois? We drive through it on our way to Missouri. That would make a really fun trip for any boy, but especially one named after Super Man. :)

Caroline is one of my all time favorite girl names. We'll probably use it as a middle name, it goes with everything! I also like Della, but with DD's name being Reese that might be a little much (actress Della Reese).

Ok..Some one want to offer some "D" girl names up to me?
Dorothy is planned for this one, but as with the last daughter - I'm not sure I am in love with it. Dh said Daisy is *out*, that was the only other D name...
I like classic names, and I wouldn't mind "Donna" for a name. I think its pretty too.
Any suggestions?
