errm... that's all I can think of off the top of my head!
Cute names! I like Inara but I don't feel like Inara Evelyn "clicks" maybe mess around with the middle name?
Agreed. I would probably go with something that doesn't start with a vowel. I think it would roll off the tongue a little easier. Inara Pearl and Inara Rose are two that pop into my head.
I love it.
Many years ago, before we started TTC even, we agreed that our daughter would be named Zubretta (Brett) Josephine. Then I got pregnant. And we spent 20 weeks arguing about names because DH decided he didn't want to saddle our kid with that name, and I still loved it (still do). When we got pg with DS, the argument started all over again until we finally settled on a girls name we both love, and that pays tribute to my mother, but it's not the same at all (although I still get my Z!). We picked a boy's name for DS that is middling popular (and apparently androgynous, although we didn't realize that at the time), and we still caught flack for it. Somebody will always have something negative to say about it. Once she's born, most people aren't going to care.
My DD's name means Angel (not in literal translation but in the names meaning) and a friends neighbor was like what is your DDs name and I said Aniela (ahn yell a) and then she gave me a weird look so I said "It's Polish it means angel" and she says "Angel would have been nice!" Umm...no. People will always have something to say! I love DDs name and it is special to me b/c my mom passed away when I was a kid so DD won't have any Polish culture in her life besides what I bring to it. I felt she needed a good Polish name to honor my mother.
I do kind of resent that all of my kids are going to wind up with very "American" names. I'm Russian and Native American, and DH is Scottish. Yet there are few names that either haven't been co-opted by the US or won't get my kid beat up. That kinda makes me sad. I'm having to compromise by just making sure that their first names are all pronouncable in Russian ("TH", "J" and "W" sounds don't exist in Russian). I really like a lot of Welsh names, but DH won't go for them because of the crazy spellings.
I think we finally decided on a name!! Layla
It came to me last night in my sleep, totally randomly. It's not really a name I was ever drawn to before, but I really love it now. I could totally picture our little girl as a Layla. SO said he likes it too. Woohoo!
Now we just need a middle name to go with it. Any suggestions??
