Weight-Loss Thread! - Page 6

My thighs are dappled like fat little ponies.  That's my biggest postpartum beef.

Anyone start up with ab work?  When did you start?

Also, I've seen the recommendation of no knees-to-chest stretches or exercises until 6 weeks.  Anyone know why?  Too much pressure on perineal region?

So antsy!!!  Recovery is frustrating!

Pre-preg weight 170

Birth weight- No idea *blushes* my midwife wasn't all that concerned about it, so neither was I.

8 days PP- 209.5 (ouch)

I'm 10 days PP today and went and did some shopping today, started bleeding again, so I'm no where near ready for exercise. I've been trying to think about what I feed my face, but it's not working so good....I tried on some jeans today, from my closet, couldn't button them...I have a pair of jeans and a pair of khakis that I *think* would fit, but they are MIA, I hope I didn't send them to goodwill. That would make me very sad.

LOL! I didn't realize I didn't copy over the caption as well. Yes, if I looked like that again, I would be pretty pleased! I wasn't toned at all, but at least I wasn't so... wide. Left is 5 weeks pp.

Similar... we have no idea what DD's apgar was, and people are so shocked, but we never asked, and no one said anything. DH said he'd rather not know. She was pretty darn blue at birth... lol.

I haven't started anything yet, but DH and I said we were going to start tonight. He's got to get in shape to take a fitness test for work, and I need to get bikini ready (for myself, but I want to feel good enough to put on a bikini). I was 6 weeks pp yesterday.

I stepped on the scale briefly today, and I'm at 139. Down another pound. I've been eating like crap, so I'll take it.

7 weeks postpartum and I'm down 31 with 15 to go.  I'm still not paying any attention to what I eat other than to cut sugar because of the yeast in my milk ducts and trying to get rid of that.  I never ended up needing to count calories after ds1 but then again I didn't gain almost fifty pounds with him either. It seems like when I try to eat healthy and pay attention to it I gain weight so I'm just letting it go for now.

okay ill join now that my eating is swinging back to my normal pre pregnancy diet meaning less and less candy and sugars.  i usually have a very strict no processed sugar diet but when i got pregnant i started eating ice cream and cookies and candy etc.  i dont know how much i weighed right before i had Ember so im guessing maybe like 185 ish im not sure though

pre pregnancy i weighed 138, smallest i have ever been

now i weigh 170 (eek) i am very unhappy about that, my diet is transitioning and i need to drink more water to flush out all the ick.  cant wait to start excersisng.... playing roller hockey, jogging, and aerobic sex.......... Sheepish.gif

i want to get down to 138 asap, ive never had to work on losing weight before so im mildly unsure as to how to do it or what realistic expectations to have.  i have a very poor body image if i think im chunky, it really gets me down and brings up all kinds of insecurity.

my partner and i used to be polyamourous, and the loose plan is to go back to that at some point, and i know if i dont have a good self body image at that point i will be a wreck and it will very negatively affect my relationship...

ugh

How are you mamas finding time to exercise?  I am pretty much holding the baby (or nursing her ALL THE TIME).

If DH holds her, I have a million other things I need to do!

Weight check-in: I was 109 something today.  But, I would feel better about actually exercising!  I want to get strong.

I am super lucky - my gym has day care (after 6mo) so I take my dd1 with me.  My husband or my mother watch the twins for about an 1 hr a day so I can go to the gym or workout at home in the basement.  I am going to lose this luxury when I go back to work so I figure I better get back in shape now.

I don't! lol. And DH is home with me right now, and I still don't have time. lol. Today is day three that we've said "ok, today we're going to work out" and so far nada.

I don't have time.  For some reason, I thought I would.  I could go walking in the afternoon after my ds1 is home from school, but it has been pretty cold out and I would like the baby to be a little older before I take him out.  Last time I did, he seemed to have a hard time breathing in the cold air.  I think walking is the only way I'll be able to work out, which is fine because I love it.

...work out? You mean, like, the arm workout I got last night, lifting pizza repeatedly to my face? ;)

I'm mostly just walking and doing mild stretches and baby helps with both of those.  I've done some chest presses using the baby as weight.  I do calf exercises while I brush my top teeth and belly dancing hip circles while I brush the bottoms.  ...  I'm not quite 3 weeks pp though so I'm not really exercising yet, just getting myself moving and loose.  It will be harder to have a true exercise routine between the baby and the weather.

I have pre-prg pants in various sizes, and currently my second to smallest (or biggest) are fitting the best. But, I only have 3 that fit right now. I'm planning on getting a couple more in a couple weeks when I have the funds to do it.

Shirts are harder.. my pants fit, but I still have a little belly. So finding a shirt that hides the belly better is hard

I tried to wear a maternity shirt today and it looked so funny lol...but, I feel you on the belly. I need to get some long shirts that are not maternity. I am still wearing these really stretchy maternity tanks...I can pull the neck down to nurse and the bottom of the tank goes really far down too so it just looks like I am layering...then since they are snug fitting they kind of hold my belly together lol.

I realized yesterday that I think my belly button is the absolute worst area on my body...that's the majority of the wrinkle and I think it might be from the piercing (which migrated) I had as a teen...after 3 pregnenancies it has just gotten so stretched and I think the scaring makes it worse.

I have the same problem. I only have stretch marks on my belly button and around it... I wish someone would have told me when I was 18 that piercing my navel would increase my chance of getting stretch marks.

3 weeks PP, and I'm down another 5 pounds to 146. So, from the highest, thats down about 20, 20 more to go to pre-preg, and 25 from my goal. Yay!

I'm a little surprised at myself that my PP body image is actually quite good and better than my pregnant body image. I guess it's seeing shrinkage instead of growth, along with DH not being able to keep his hands off me (whereas he was totally not interested before). I'm even rather proud of the couple of stretch marks that have shown up as my tummy shrinks; I feel like they're my mama-badge of honor, like they're the proof that I have a woman's body now and not a girl's.

I'm also definitely not exercising yet, and definitely not healed enough to do so. But I am taking little walks each day with baby in the wrap--despite the coldness outside, he's so warm and cozy in there--and I'm so sore in the shoulders and arms from holding and lifting him, so that's doing something!

What I can't understand is how you all are able to wear pre-preg clothes already! I went through my box yesterday and was able to take all of three things out, all loose tops that have to be adjusted to hold these knocking boobies. All my pants, skirts, dresses, even jackets are a dismal failure. I've got at least four inches before anything will close, and my hips are still so wide that even if something fit the waist, it's hard t o get over the hips. Not only are my breasts massive compared to normally, my rib cage has also has expanded quite a bit, so things that can be left open in front still don't fit in back. So I won't be l
looking cute anytime soon, but that's ok because my baby sure does!

Okay, these won't be pretty. I'm sure they'll make all of you feel awesome about your PP bodies compared to mine, though. ;)

Down to 177.4 today. I took these today. My goal is 155, which will be 53 lbs. lost from 9 months pregnant. We'll see how long it takes me. I plan to take new photos every time I lose 5 pounds. Wish I would have started this earlier. ;)

I have a lot more tummy and butt than I need right now, LOL. Almost 6 weeks PP.

I'll have to post a pic at some point too...though with taking the dom now I'll probably end up gaining...argh.... but, Amanda- I have the same goal - 155! I'm 180, and 5 weeks postpartum...if its any consolation I think we both look good :-) Though sometimes I feel discouraged...just having a good day today lol

@azade - I put on a lot of width in the ribs, too. I used to fit a 32 bra band, now i'm in 38s! It's not like I'm carrying any extra fat around the ribcage, that's still pretty trim... Experienced mamas want to chime in and tell me if that's going to go back to normal, or should I give up on any of my old clothes fitting there again?

After my first baby I was able to wear most of my clothes again eventually...I would say by about 12 months postpartum I could wear most..by 15 or 16mos PP I could wear just about all, but, then I got preggo LOL. I took domperidone (ugh just went back on it!) and was on Mirena and Zoloft (for a little while) after DS2 and I lost most of the weight during the first 6 weeks PP but then I gained it all back and stayed about the weight I was 9mos pregnant with him until I got preggo with DD... With DS1 I walked all the time and I think that is what really got me lsoign the weight. I did not feel good in a bikini (my belly wasn't as tight) but with clothes on I felt really sexy by the time he was a year old. Oh another difference is that I BF DS1 for 3 years and only BF DS2 for about 5mos.
