Meconium Aspiration Syndrome/DtaP

Thread Starter

My son is 5 weeks old now. He was in the NICU (after our home birth) for 7 days due to meconium aspiration syndrome. I was advised not to delay the DtaP, but this is the same doctor who gave me a hard time for not doing Hep B while my baby was unable to breath on his own and keep his oxygen saturation numbers in a good place.

I got a booster 9 1/2 years ago when I entered the Peace Corps. Does this provide any protection to my son now that we are nursing or is it beyond the beneficial point?

My daughter did not receive any vaccines before age 3 1/2 and I am nervous to start doing them with my son so young. She is fully vaccinated for DtaP.

Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated...Thank you!

Dont do it until you are comfortable with what you are doing..its YOUR child, not the drs, and if something adverse should happen to your son becuz of the drs advice, it would be very hard to deal with emotionally.  You can always go get vaccines later, but you can't take them back..
