My breasts aren't as sore as they were when I had my first pregnancy two years ago. I'm only 5 1/2 weeks, so maybe that has something to do with it (I can't remember when it began and how long it lasted for then-- but I do remember how bad it got!). But then, I also read in a couple books that for subsquent pregnancies, they often don't get as tender. I didn't see a reason why, but I'm thinking that maybe the breast tissue is already used to being expanded? I'm on vaginal prometrium and oral estrace to support the pregnancy, but you would think that my breasts would extra sore from that! I'm trying not to get too worried about it, but it seems like lately all I seem to be doing is poking and squeezing my breasts. If anybody else can share their own experiences with breast tenderness after pregnancy #1, I would appreciate it.
Breast tenderness--fluctuating and different from 1st pregnancy...Anybody else?
I'm 4w6d today and I have had almost zero breast tenderness. I'm also taking prometrium orally. I'm just figuring my breasts are already used to changing a lot due to 2 years of nursing. My daughter weaned literally a few weeks before I conceived. I'm still able to express a bit of milk, though. I did have moderate breast tenderness with DD, but nothing crazy.
Hi there, I am still nursing my 2 year old, though I've cut back a lot as it is a little painful, but my breast tenderness is WAY WAY less this time around. They hurt if I poke them(!), they're roughly the same size, and I'm thinking it must be down to a) they've already undergone these changes b) I'm still nursing.
So I'm with you :)
I had awful breast pain with DS but this time around, I haven't noticed much of anything. Occasionally, there will be a twinge but overall, much, much less pain. I'm still nursing him once a day so I don't know if that has something to do with it. I did notice that they seem to have filled out a little more but that doesn't seem to be translating to any extra milk or pain.
I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one whose breasts aren't too sore! Actually, mine aren't sore at all, and I'm exactly at 6W (4W from ovulation). My 2-1/2 year old still nurses occasionally, so I assume my breasts don't need remodeling at this point. With pregnancy #1, I was pretty Dolly-Partonesque by this point!
This made me smile. Think of all the people this due date club alone could feed...
Mine are off again on again tender and I too walk around poking myself to see if they are still sore. Maybe they are sore from my bugging them all day. They are the WORST when I get up in the morning though. They are screaming the minute I stand up.
Mine haven't been sore to the touch this time, but definitely achy every now and then. Almost like the full of milk feeling, but I haven't nursed in almost 2 months. This is my 3rd. I had very sensitive nipples with both my first and my second pregnancies. I'm assuming it will come soon as I'm just 5 weeks today.
