Hi Mama,
Â
My kids are just about the same ages as yours! 2 and 8 months, and 10 weeks. I have DD enrolled in daycare 2 days a week (to keep her spot), so we have that to fill our week. I started taking her to a city recreation class when DD was 6 weeks old, so that is another routine filled day. The remaining two days I usually schedule a playdate, or something "fun" (indoor play park, drop in play center, grocery shopping, park/new parks, carwash, etc.). If we stay in I try to keep things interesting, for her sake and mine, with something that I withhold otherwise, or is terribly messy and not a regular occurrance. We have some high barstools at our kitchen counter so that makes tabletop play easy while babywearing, so i can help her with a craft or sit with her while she eats something. Waterplay in the sink is a good one while babywearing. For some reason she LOVES cups and filling and pouring. Today we played "follow the leader" which meant I sang the song and walked behind her while she tore around the house. DD1 just stopped napping, so we sometimes put on a TV show just after lunch so I can rest my brain. I'm trying to get off TV more as well, but it's useful for a sit down period, and useful while I prep dinner, so sometimes she watches quite a bit I guess. Oh and I guess when I don't use the TV, i may let her play with my iPhone.. youtube, games, or photos of our family. While nursing I really like activity sticker books, or we play doctor, or often she can amuse herself with independent play. I found on etsy a seller who makes pre-assembled crafts with no glue or tape required (so just peel and stick kind of crafts). I never ended up ordering anything but if anyone is interested I'll see if I can find the link.

And i hear you about the mornings.. even when I feel like I am up and running it still takes us until 10:00 before we are ready to leave the house!!
Good luck weaning off the TV. We usually watch tons of TV when everyone is sick, and I hate the weaning period afterwards.. it is like a drug!
