OB recommendations in Denver

Thread Starter

My husband and I are moving to Denver in the next couple of weeks, and while I've been planning to have a midwife birth (probably Mountain Midwifery), I'm beginning to wonder whether I should have an OB as "backup" and some testing etc.  This is our first baby, and unplanned, so I'm still a little unsure how much of that I want, but it does seem strange that I won't have seen anyone/have had any tests until I am at least 10 weeks.  Any suggestions for a good OB in the Denver area that leans a bit more "natural" and won't try to push things (like early ultrasound) that I do know I don't want?

Midwives will often do any testing you request.

Mountain Midwifery works with some very naturally-minded OBs.  They can refer you if you need.  And if for some reason you (God-forbid) risk out of midwifery care, they will be happy to provide a seamless transfer of care to these OBs.

If you have no known risk factors and no history of loss, you shouldn't need any tests before 10 weeks.  It's fairly typical for both midwives and OBs not to see you until then.  I know the waiting is tough -- I hated it myself.

I was a Mountain Midwifery client this spring.  PM me if you would like any more information.  Have you taken their orientation tour yet?  It will make you feel better!!  HTH!
