Question about dip in my chart

Thread Starter

Hey everyone, I have been pretty active on these boards for the last couple of months. This is only my second cycle of ttc and my first cycle charting. I had a weird really big dip in my chart yesterday and a lot of cramping and I thought for sure it was AF. I know that implantation dips are not really that common, but I am hoping that the dip isn't a really bad sign.

Would you mind taking a look at my chart and letting me know if it looks OK?

Thank you so much!

I, personally, don't believe in implantation dips because most women have a bit of a fall in progesterone anywhere between 7-10 dpo and usually a day or 2 later, a second surge follows thus giving a "dip" that can look like this. I have had them several times and it's never ended in pregnancy. (Even my pregnancy chart didn't have one)

However, I hope I'm wrong for your sake. Good luck!

That dip on 9 dpo looks very promising!  Many ladies have implantation dips, though I agree with Attached2Elijah that a lot of cycles show dips that do not result in pregnancy.  So I know it's hard to wait it out, but that's all you can do right now!  I hope we get a BFP post from you in a few days!

I think your chart looks great! I wouldn't be worried about that dip at all. It's not even really a dip. It's still way above the cover line. If I were you I'd test tomorrow with FMU. (But I can never stand to wait). I also get my BFPs 10 DPO. My usual luteal phase about 12 days. But I guess if you're the patient type you should probably wait a few more days ;)

That's not a dip to be concerned about at all.  Nor would I say it looks like an implantation dip, implantation dips are usually quite dramatic, dipping well below the CL. Your temps are all still safely well above your CL- it's just normal fluctuations.  Always keep in mind that one temp does not make a pattern.  So 11 DPO tomorrow... you could test then if you wanted to and likely get accurate results, though some women need to wait until 12-14 DPO.  Be sure to use a pink dye, sensitive (hCG level of 25), non +/- kind and FMU for best results.

If you don't get a BFP this time, I have one suggestion to make based on your BDing pattern...  I see that you guys DTD every day when you started to have fertile signs, but your patch of wet and EW was quite long and it looks as though you may have run out of steam by the time you actually ovulated (of course I'm just speculating.. maybe you guys were busy).  So, you ended up missing O and O+1.  Maybe next time DTD every other day or so when your fertile patch begins, definitely hitting the days when your CP is HSO, and getting another shot or two in after O.  This will increase your chances of conception and help prevent making DTD feel like a chore.

Thanks everyone! You all made me feel *much* better! I will be testing tomorrow with FMU. energy.gif

Jaimee, we were super unlucky this cycle with timing, my DH was out of town (across the country actually) for a business trip from CD 22 (CD22 is my O date) through CD24 and I got food poising on CD20 (two days before Oing) and was throwing up! Thank you so much for the advice, though, we haven't had much of a problem BDing a lot, but I could see that if it took us a several more month of ttc that it might become a problem!

I agree that your chart looks great!  I have no idea about or experience with implantation dips, so I don't have any thoughts on that, but I agree with Jaimee that you show a clear thermal shift even with the one errant temp.

We are soooooo going to be testing buddies tomorrow morning!!!   Jaimee said on my thread that I should wait until CD 11, but I'm totally going to test tomorrow.  Last time I got a BFP on CD10, so I don't mind wasting a test.

lol.gif  I only suggested waiting until CD 11 if you thought you'd be sad with BFN's that were possibly from testing too early (and CD 11 could still be too early, too).  But if you've got tests, I say test every morning from now on until a BFP or AF!

Congratulations! I really thought you might be pregnant from your chart. It looked very triphasic. (If that's the word).

Just an FYI... buy using the Prem rule which takes into account your actual ovulation, your due date is June 28. :)

Typical doctors will ask you your LMP date, and use their little wheel thingy and tell you your due date is June 19. I personally seek to avoid the whole argument with the doctor over my due date so I like to tell them the LMP date that jives with my calculated due date. So in your case I'd say my LMP was Sept 22. What you do is up to you... but you might want to think about it before you go to the doctor.

Congrats again!!

Yeah, depends on your mw.  Some will listen to you about your date of conception and others won't.  But I would absolutely argue for the best (latest) due date possible to avoid any unnecessary interventions.  I just use this website: http://www.justmommies.com/duedate.shtml enter your O day and the "calculate from conception" button.  It puts you at June 26th.  Otherwise your LMP will put you on the 19th, a full week earlier.  Some women really need that week!

Hey all, thanks so much for the congratulations!! They made me feel awesome and special. love.gif Also, thanks for the info about the due date. I will keep that in mind. . . .June 26th instead of the 19th. I will definitely bring that information with me to my first appointment with my midwife!
