Food Sensitivities

My 3 week old, exclusively breastfed daughter is showing signs of possibly being sensitive to something in my diet. She is fussy at the breast, fussy through the day and difficult to console, constipated, getting the hiccups and spitting up a lot and has a rash on the folds of her neck and the diaper area. She is also experiencing symptoms of thrush which I understand can be treated by eliminating certain foods as well. Does anyone have any experience with food sensitive babies and elimination diets? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My (now 3 year old) DS has many food sensitivities. He had reflux when he was an infant. I breastfed him until he was 2.5, but it was rough. I had to take out dairy, soy, corn and gluten. I added 6000mg vitamin C a day. He was much, much better but the reflux didn't resolve until he weaned. Now his issues are more behavioral problems related to food sensitivities.

My current child (5 weeks old) has reflux as well. I'm trying the Dr. Sears elimiation diet.  http://www.askdrsears.com/topics/feeding-infants-toddlers/food-allergies/elimination-diet

I would say to start with dairy and soy and then work your way down. Most allergic reactions are to the protiens in the two. Hopefully this clears up your problems and you don't have to keep eliminating foods like I did.

Here's a link to the Kellymom site with info on food allergies in breastfed babies.

Hope your little one feels better soon and hang in there, it's going to get better!
