DS really wants a penpal

My ds is 7.5 and would love to have a penpal.  We unschool, he isn't too interested in learning to read and write so his reading and writing skills are not that great, but I think if he had someone he could send letters back and forth with, it would make it that much more fun.  He loves Star Wars and Lego, wildlife/nature, and playing with friends.  Anyone out there with a similar age kid who wants a penpal?  Feel free to send me a PM :)

Or, are there any safe websites to go and get hooked up with a penpal?

I have a almost 7year old boy. We live in the Dominican Republic, so actual letters we couldnt do. I could type what he wants to say, my son is not interested in reading or writing yet either.

He loves Legos and Animal Planet, and the xbox. He has friends from all over the world that he's met from living abroad.

I'll talk to him and see what he thinks about this.

mamato3wildponies -- I think actual letters in the mail would be what would work well for us.  We really try to limit computer time, and having ds read and write his own letters would be best for us, but maybe there's someone else out there reading this who might like an online penpal and could contact you?

while its not a 'penpal' in the traditional sense of the word the site incorporates geography and a few other things into our 'lesson' as well.  My 11 yr old is tracking total miles/km his cards go this year vs cards received.

We just started this back in september and he is having a blast!
