Good garlic varieties for taste and size?

We are about to plant the garlic for next year and are looking for varieties to try that give fair sized garlics with lots of taste. The variety we have now is a rather small, mild sort that is super hardy from Russia. Great for pickles, not so great for giving taste to the food.

So, which are your favourite varieties of garlic? And is there any trick to getting them to taste more?

I grew Appalachia Red last year--it's pretty good.  Chesnok Red and Music are also fairly flavorful.    I've also been happy with Inchelium Red, but it's a softneck, so no scapes.

We don't use scapes, so softneck garlic is not a problem. Thanks for the suggestions...now at least I have a starting point. So bewildering with all the different sorts. :)

We love Music!  Huge, huge heads with wonderful flavor.  And the scapes, oh my, they're almost as great as the garlic itself!  Sautee with butter and toss in pasta....mmmMMMmmMMmmmmmm!

That sounds good...especially with shrimp. :)
