Trying to concieve after depo.

Has anyone else been on depo? I had before we had our first bunch and now we would like to have more. I just got my first period due to the fact they put me on a pill to jump start things. I was wondering if anyone has been through this ? Plus I wonder how many cycles I should go through on the pill before I discontinue and really activly begin trying.?

I was on depo over two years ago and it was a total nightmare. I bled and spotted for the entire three months straight, and afterwards didn't have a period for six months.

I have been TTC for six months now, but I don't know if it's because of the Depo or my thyroid problems.

Were you on depo before you had your children or after? Or both?

Are you on BCPs to jumpstart your first postpartum AF? Or your first AF after Depo?

I'm not sure how long you should be on BCPs to regulate your period. From what I've read, most women stay on it for 2-3 months, but I would ask your doctor.

After you come off, I would suggest charting to confirm you're ovulating. Were your cycles regular before going on Depo?

I was on depo for 6 years. I never had a period, I gained 5 pounds but had no other symptoms. It was great!!

Anyway, I went off of it and went on the pill for 3 months. Then we waited another 6 months to start trying. We weren't married yet and I was still in college so the timing wasn't right for immediate baby. I just wanted to make sure that we would be ready when the time was right. We got pregnant our first month of not using any protection.

I was on Depo almost 9 years (I know! I took and still take a calcium supplement! hide.gif) I did gain weight, but I only had one period that whole time (due to missing a shot) and it was fantastic.

Anyway, I got my last shot in mid-November, took the pill from March to May to kick things into gear, and then conceived my daughter in mid-August, right after we officially started trying (9 months after the last Depo shot).

I was on Depo for, uh, twelve years? Maybe thirteen. Anyway, I did gain weight, but the suppression of periods was worth it. I had a bone density scan when the black-box warning came out, and I was fine. I got my last shot in December 2009, had my first period in September 2010 and was pregnant by December 2010. (We were actively trying, but my husband had a burst appendix and was hospitalized for 2.5 weeks in Oct/Nov 2010 so THAT time was out.) Basically, once my period came back, I got pregnant in 2 months of trying. Depo gets a bad rap, but it worked for me and I loved it. I had my son in Sept 2010 and I have an IUD now, but I considered Depo again for sure.

I was on Depo for a couple years, and it took 9 months after the Depo should have worn off to get pregnant.

Finally someone says something good about this.  I have been on the depo shot for about 7 years.  I love it.  I lost three babies in one year and I couldn't remember to take that stupid pill.  I love Depo.  I have had a bone scan and I am fine.  All I hear is people saying it isn't natural for a person not to have a period well pace makers are not natural either but people put those in.  A period is only used to shed the lining anyway so if there is nothing to shed then why shed.  Thank God I have found other educated people in this world.joy.gif

I was on Depo for about 4 years. My last shot was in December of 04, and I did not get my first AF until June which appeared to be annovulatory. We started trying in earnest in August and got pregnant in October with a sticky pregnancy.

My sister had a difficult time with return of fertility after Depo and ended up using Clomid to conceive, but I think she just wasn't willing to wait it out.

I took a test and it was neg so I go to the OB on Tues. See what he says about the whole cycle thing .   I have not been charting temps this month since My son was sick and I had been getting up at 4 am with him .
