Water bottle for school

Looking for an easy-to-wash water bottle for dd that is leak proof. We are using her old sippy cups right now but there are so many parts to wash separately. I was wondering if there is something easier available.

thanks.

We use a .3 L Sigg water bottle with a sport cap like this: http://www.amazon.com/Sigg-0-3L-Kids-Bottles/dp/B002OSFGZ0/ref=pd_sim_sg2. The bottle is easy to clean with a bottle brush, and the top is pretty easy to clean too. We put only water in it. I suspect OJ would be a bad idea as the pulp would get caught, but anything else should be easy. My daughter is in 2nd grade and still uses hers. We got our son a 0.4 L one when he was in 4th grade. They're VERY durable.

We went through a bunch trying to find one that worked for DD. Ended up using a small Klean Kanteen with a sports cap.

We use the Thermos Foogo Straw Cup. I like it because it's double-walled, so it doesn't sweat the way Siggs and Klean Kanteens do when you put ice in them, and it keeps drinks cold way longer. It has 4 parts: the cup, the lid, and 2 straw pieces. We only use it for water.

This is what we use too, but it all goes in the dishwasher, so it's not too bad to clean.

We use the Thermos too and forgot it in the car this summer when DD went to dance class.  An hour after being in a car in 90 degree heat, the water was still cool.  I've never had it leak and the parts are easy to put back (unlike some other bottles I've tried).

Thermos one here but it is getting replaced and no more of them for DD2. She likes to bite the straw to pieces. She is  turning 5 this weekend so not that small. I'm replacing with the cambelback water bottles, we had those before she spotted the Dora thermos one and they worked well.

My DD has used the Thermos funtainer (a little larger than the foogo) daily through pre-K, K, and now 1st grade and it does not leak (though she has to be careful how she puts it in her backpack because it WILL leak if the button is pushed and the top opens) and truely stays cold ALL day so she has cold water for both morning and afternoon snack.  If you use super cold water and put in an ice cube or two, it can actually stay chilly for like 12 hours!

As for the straw/spout part... we have had to replace this 2x over 2+ years. I don't think DD chewed it, I think it got worn a bit where the straw is pinched by the lid (which makes it not leak). Anyway, replacement straws/spouts are only $1 (bought over the phone from the thermos company) so I just ordered 3 replacements for her funtainer, plus 3 replacement straws/lids for DD2s foogo, AND 2 extra lids/spouts for DD3's foogo sippy cup...and it cost $15, including shipping.

Camelbak is the brand name, I mistyped it before, that is what I get for NAKing!

They look like this. http://www.amazon.com/Camelbak-Bottle-Litre-Purple-Rainbow/dp/B0043837VE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1319235744&sr=8-4 We've had many over the years, they hold up very well. We always end up losing them before they wear out.

Are they double-walled/insulated?

We just got the "safe sippy" sports bottle. Its great! As long as the water top is closed it doesnt leak.

My kids have several Funtainers. I like them because they keep liquids cold all day.

We've just bought a couple of these for this kids lunch boxes. The problem I had with a lot of the sports caps was the kids not pushing them down far enough to seal the bottle and we ended up with a lot of leaks. They seem to be able to manage these twist tops a bit better.

They are not insulated though so no good if you are looking to keep a drink really cold.

we had been using his foogo straw cup to, until it was forgot in the car of an out of town friend... i hope she mails, it back, lol... it has kept thinh\gs cold through georgia, louisiana, and texas summers... i love the way it has still has ice in it when we come home from school at 630 pm... and it doesnt sweat, which is great.
now we've been using his klean kanteen, which i freeze the night before. it still has some ice in it at snack time. i wrap it in a cloth napkin (its terry and flannel, so nice and thick) to help keep it from sweating all over everything in his lunchbox. and i think he likes having a napkin and snack, lol

we mostly send water, but occasionally he'll get some juice in it.

This is also what we use.  Very easy to wash, completely safe, and does not hold on to smells no matter what is put inside.  thumb.gif

However, they are *not* double walled/insulated so that is a downside if you need that feature.  We by all our eco supplies from www.reuseit.com  -- there are lots of reviews/feedback from consumers & that helps me make decisions on what to buy.  Good luck!
