EBF and vitamin D

I was wondering how many people give their EBF babies vitamin D supplements. My baby is 2 months old and the pediatrician suggested starting. However, Dr. Sears' site says an EBF doesn't need supplementation. I take vit D but I'm worried because my ds has my skin type and I seem to not absorb it as well?

So what are peoples thoughts on giving vit D to their LO's?

I think as long as mama is getting enough a two month old shouldn't need supplementation - BUT, the RDA is way way low in general and thus way way way low for nursing mothers - we need a lot more than is just in a prenatal for example. There is a post in the March 2012 DDC about D supplementation.  Straight from the Vit D Council the suggestion is mama should be getting 6,000 IUs of D a day or mama should get 5,000 and baby should get 1,000. I personally feel most comfortable taking drops myself.
