Lorrie - Is this directed at me?  I'm a little confused as I haven't said anything other than being concerned.  We did play phone tag today, I'm out of town and have been running around.  I'm hoping we can catch up on Monday.  I'm very familiar with moms who have used Evelyn, I was speaking in general terms.  I don't think anyone in this thread is speaking ill of Evelyn or ABC in general.  We're all hoping for a good outcome on Tuesday.

I think she is referring to "secondimpression"

Dear oatsebear411,

I am not a patient of Evelyn. But I just wanted to give you a big hug. However your baby is to be delivered, let it be magical through your own right. I really send my positive love off to you and your baby, and just remember, this too will pass, but your baby, however it gets here, will (willing) be here forever (relitively), this situation will only be here in a memory. Be strong.

I wish you the best,

Isismamakat

Thank you isismamakat. It was a great experience with ABC for the first 34 weeks. I am hoping I will love my new midwives as much as one can with only 5 or so weeks to get to know them.

Totally missed that post.  Thank you for that, I think you're right.

Sorry Lorrie.  I hope we can actually speak on Monday.  smile.gif

Incredibly unprofessional. Spend your time fixing this mess instead of chiding people who were let down by your practice.

Lorrie, I hope that everything works out. I don't think the thread starter or anyone else came here to badmouth Evelyn. The one poster had a bad experience, but if that isn't the norm then I don't think anyone in Evelyn's practice has anything to worry about. Maybe it's something to bring up at a team meeting (if you all do those) and try to work on? I understand this time is really frustrating right now and I hope that all of your patients are ok and that whatever happened is getting resolved.

It's my impression and personal experience that ABC IS doing the best they can to "clean up this mess". What more can they do, but take care of moms in order of when they are due? There's only 6 or so people working in that practice and they ALL have families ALL need to sleep at some point in time and ALL have their own limitations in how quickly things can be done. There are also HUGE limitations in referring moms who want a home birth because of VERY few HB CNMs and no doubt many finical limitation because of clients health ins. This "chiding" was really a fair chance at defending ABC - especially since SO many people reading here are taking people's guesses, assumptions and hear-say as TRUTH.

It's appalling how many people are ready for a good "witch burning".

No person is perfect - I'm not deifying my midwife. If we have our eyes open we can easily see that midwives of all certifications are under HUGE scrutiny; in this state especially. Some hospitals, physicians practices, and whatever other boards or committees are waiting to pounce on any chance they get to wipe midwives out of our birth community. Every one here adding to the idle chatter without knowing the facts is only helping the antagonist's cause.

"idle chatter" /sigh.

Most of this forum is "idle chatter"

I'm not witch burning. Talking about your patients/clients, revealing their due date...it is extremely unprofessional to discuss someone's private medical information. Doing so in order to argue with them is really ridiculous.

It doesn't make ABC look better, it makes it look much, much worse.

Lorrie has posted personal information from my medical records, called me a gossip and a liar and no one is outraged!? I am beyond livid that she thinks HIPPA laws do not apply to her and that the mods have done nothing.

I do not see any thing shared from your medical records, am I missing something?

PLEASE if you have any question call her. She would love to talk to anyone who has questions. She has been very open, honest and up front with her clients about this situation.

And if you want to really help. PLEASE get involved in changing the laws about midwifery in MD. You can visit Marylanders for safe birth

(40 due before Christmas, 10 that are due any day)  That coupled with trying to meet with the attorney and gather the information that the Board of Nursing is requesting for Tuesday's hearing. (if you have ever dealt with an attorney, you know that those meeting last hours at a time)

Evelyn was trying to meet with each of her clients in person and privately to explain what was going on. This way each family would have the opportunity to ask any questions and have there concerns met personally. While doing that the clients were asked NOT to talk about this so that we could meet with all of our clients and they could hear everything from us, and not the rumor mill. Unfortunately some clients decided not to honor that request. Some literally got on facebook and Mom's groups moments after walking out of the office. That significantly slowed the process of meeting with our clients, because we then spent half of our day putting out "fires" and answering calls to those who had found out from the internet.

All of us have families also. I personally usually spent about 10 hours a day at ABC, between travel and office hours. The last 2 weeks have been 14 hour days. I have a nursing toddler too.

I say all of this not for sympathy, but for understanding. Evelyn greatly loves each and every one of her clients. She is devastated by this, her heart is completely broken. She really is doing her best, and so are we trying to help her.

I'm not involved in the situation with Evelyn at all, and I'll say that this was positive and constructive. This is an amazing response to the thread, and I think the thread needed something like this. I think it made sense to "triage" the patients in a way, and contact the ones with the soonest due-dates first. I hope that there can be some peace.

Second impression and all,

Clearly I can not make this situation okay for anyone, so I am going to stop engaging this thread (which I feel has been more destructive than helpful to anyone).  I apologize for anything I did that you are upset about.  It has not been my intent to upset anyone.  I have been to two births in two days and have five children I home school, working at ABC every spare moment the last two weeks and going to school at night.  That is to say, I may not have been rested enough to make the best word choices in my posts.   I am simply trying to make sure that fact based information is available to our clients and when there are incorrect impressions (this thread started out saying Evelyn was being sued or going to court, neither of which were even close to accurate) to correct them.  Instead I will close with this.  Every single client of ABC and former client of ABC has cell phone access to Evelyn and all her support staff 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  If you have questions, EVEN if you have already talked to us and had a visit or discussion with us your calls are always welcome.  This is all very complicated and more questions are bound to come up later for most people and we want to answer them in a private, personal forum. Thank you.  May all of us find peace and an end to all this drama very soon.  God Bless.

Thank you Jenga,

I have already talked to the OP, she and I know each other well hug2.gif and others here.  I hope those folks have found the answers they need.  I appreciate your understanding very much.  I hope that Tuesday there can be a fresh start and we can get back to helping our mamas have great births.

Lorrie, that was a great post. I am so sorry things have been hectic for you lately. You need some :hugs: too. :)

Homeschooling five with everything else you do! Wow! I have two younger ones and I don't know if I could do it! Go you :D

Negative reviews, especially of ABC are almost immediately deleted here on MDC. I tried to post my horrible experience with her and was given warnings or points or whatever and had my thread deleted not just from here in the tribe but also from my DDC where I was venting.
