Music for labor « Back to Group Discussions

I thought we could start a thread with recommendations for labor/ birth music. I know I can definitely use some more on my playlist! I'm really into kind of trippy, jam band type music that I get sucked into. For some reason, it puts me in a state where I am only thinking of the music... my mind goes blank. Other than that, I've got:

• an album called "Sufi Splendor: Music for Whirling Meditation" which is amazing- lots of chanting
• some classical Indian music for meditation by Ustad Imrat Khan 
• part of the soundtrack for the movie Dil Se
• Delerium's "Karma"
• Joanna Newsom's "Ys"
• some Native American flute music

Personally, I can't do typical new-age meditation type music because it doesn't suck me in enough. I need to be completely absorbed by the music. 

So what will everyone else be listening too?

I like to listen to music that I know the words to.  That spans a bunch of different genres, though... mostly things like Radiohead, singer/songwriter stuff, mumford and sons.  The instrumental and new-age stuff doesn't appeal to me, really.  I like to listen to the music that I normally do, I just pick certain songs that are more moving, slower beats, etc.  I have 3 or 4 mix cd's that I made for DS1's birth so I'll have to check what I put on there and revamp it for this time.

I always think I'll be in the mood for meditation/new agey stuff, but then I end up listening to just whatever.  Last time I listened to a CD of really catchy Euro-pop songs that my kids had been into, lol.  

I do think it's good to have some stuff you like to sing along to, just in case :)
