So, this is the deal.  DS is 18 months and we nightweaned (b/c I was a desperate and sleep deprived mess) at about 14 months.  It wasn't terribly hard, he did cry in DW's arms but we figured he was with someone who loves him and who he loves...

We all get sleep now and he is much happier w/o interrupting his sleep 4-8 times a night for nursing, but we have the creeping morning/night nursing.  Every morning at some point between 4:20am and 5:40am he wakes to nurse.  Sometimes he goes back to sleep after (it's a full nursing, both sides), other times it means he's up for the day (and regardless, he nurses again when he wakes up, even if it's only been 15 minutes).  If he's up for the day at this nursing he is a MESS all morning, tired and irritable.  If he falls back asleep until between 6am and 6:30am he does great all morning.

Rarely he doesn't wake up for his morning "snack" and sleeps 'till 6 or a bit later...and is a happy, rested little guy.

Any suggestions as to how to get him to drop the snack attack?  I'm looking for ways to do this gently and without having him wake for the day at 4:30am...we would be happy to just bring him to our bed when he wakes at this time, but he will not co-sleep and just ends up climbing on my head and crying.

That said, I'm NOT complaining (too much)!  His sleep was so horrific for so long that this seems almost heavenly!
