fabric for a ring sling?

A friend had an extra set of rings so she passed them on the me... but now I need to get fabric and have no idea what type.  I went to Joanne's yesterday and asked them for help and they pointed me to some very loose knits that would definitely not work. So, what kind of fabric is best for a ring sling?  Especially for someone with no sewing talent? Thanks in advance!

You can use a pretty big variety. I would avoid anything with stretch myself. I wanted something breathable so for our slings I used a cotton that looks/feels a lot like linen.
