I've had a couple of cramp-type feelings throughout the day, but basically nothing that made me think "hey that was totally a contraction". Hopefully things get moving before too much longer, I'm not totally sure what the time limit on waiting after the water's broken is and I really wanted to have this baby at home.

Usually labor will start within 24 hours and that is often the time limit for stricter care providers.  Hopefully your mw's will be more lenient!  This is when I'd personally bust out the cohoshes!

Good luck and sending you peaceful labor vibes!!

What about you Morgan?  Any more signs?

Oh how wonderful, Gemini!  Congratulations, and I can't wait for the birth story and pictures too!

For those of us who are still waiting and will need to time contractions when we do go into labor:  may I recommend this website, ContractionMaster !  I used it during my last labor and it was sooo easy and really helpful to see the duration & frequency laid out for me like that.  No writing anything down, no trying to remember when things stopped and started.  You click and it records everything on a chart for you.  It's awesome.

I had seen that site before, but how do you use it if you're walking around your house if you don't have a fancy phone?  I guess you'd have to stay by the computer for a while?

I don't know... I've already got an app for that! Now if only I ever got to use it.... I'm barely even having BH contractions anymore. They stopped for the most part about a week ago. How weird is that?

I don't have a fancy phone.  I just labored in one room pretty close to my laptop I guess, it didn't occur to me that people might be roaming around their whole house while laboring.  But then, I carry my laptop from room to room with me all the time, so I would be able to keep track regardless.  After I got in the birth pool, I set it in front of me on a chair so I could still use it.

I've been using a lot of what I believe is plug all day... Lots of gooey bloody-ish discharge throughout the day? I was up every 20 or 30 minute last night because of back pain and contractions...

Congrats Gemini!!  Can't wait to see some pictures and hear the story!  One down, many, many to go!  joy.gif

Yup, I'm a wanderer.. I was walking in circles around my kitchen counter until I went into transition.  This sounds like a good job for my dh's IPhone.   ;)

I wandered the neighborhood with my first...... there was no where to walk in our little apartment at the time.

Congrats Gemini!!!

Yes - there is a contraction master app as well for the Iphone, which is what our doula recommended to us.  I can't remember what the one for Blackberry was called.  Good luck everyone!  Things are going to start happening for lots of people soon.  I'm not due until November 22nd.  People have been telling me as well how low the baby is.  I need at least another week as well before a home birth is possible and I finish work so I'm not feeling quite ready yet either.

Ciao bellas!

From the experiences of those around me, apparently you can just go into the dr around 38 or 39 weeks and complain that you are tired of being pregnant and they will induce you. So odd.

Not in Portland they won't... All of the Portland hospitals have banned elective inductions before 39 weeks.   I love it here, lol.

I don't know but I think I'd put DH in charge and just yell "Ok go!" each time.  LOL

YAY Go Morgan!  Let's get some more October babies in joy.gif

While I don't know what your midwives policy is..  I can tell you what mine do.  I had a friend who's water broke and she didn't go into labor on her own (this is really rare).  They let her as long as she needed so long as the baby was healthy and she didn't get an infection.  She had to take her temp several times a day and they came over 2 times a day to check on the baby.   There really isn't a risk to the baby as long as everyone is healthy.

I think I'd put my husband in charge of the tracker too. Our computer is in the main part of the house though and it's a pretty small house, so I don't think I'll ever be too far away from the computer when a contraction starts. My doula will be here too once we know it's the real thing, so she can click the mouse for me as well.

As for elective inductions... I don't think my midwife would be down with that. Even though she is what most would consider a "medwife" (works for an OB practice, only delivers in hospitals, etc.) she's very laid back about when mamas go into labor, water breaking, things like that. She might allow it if the practice does, but I'm sure she would strongly recommend not doing it and try to talk me out of it if I were to try that. It's a good thing too, I need someone to keep me in line at this point. I get so impatient!

AFM: Not anymore major signs happening. I went to work yesterday with an open mind, to see how the day goes and if I think I can handle working anymore at this point. My legs swelled, as I expected, but they were just throbbing by midday. I was having mild contractions on and off all day. Nothing worth timing, but enough to be a nuissance. And when 9 three year old kids need my attention right. now.... it just wasn't working. I talked to my boss at the end of the day, said I really think my body is saying it's time to be done. He was fine with it as long as the sub is okay with starting now. They have a field trip this Friday I'm bummed about missing and their Fall party is Monday that I'm also bummed about missing, but after yesterday it was clear it just physically isn't worth it to stick it out. I left a message for my sub yesterday afternoon asking how she'd feel about starting Monday (they didn't need her for the field trip tomorrow), but I haven't heard back yet. I'm hoping she can work it out.

I did have some good contractions all evening, but nothing long or regular. My MIL, who is a massage therapist, worked on my feet for a while after dinner and they looked a lot better by the time I went to bed. So, now I'm officially on maternity leave and ready for this baby any time!

Meb, here's to a quick labor, if that's what's happening shortly. *cheers*

Me, too.  And when I think back, contractions mostly stopped as I approached labor, picking up here and there, but less than they had been previously.  So who knows!
