I don't actually *know* anyone who lost or didn't lose a mucus plug. Meaning, I've never spoken of mucus plugs IRL. Perhaps my friends and I just aren't that close!

LOL yeah, just some PPs had mentioned not knowing anyone.  Not you ;-)  That's funny that you don't talk about it though.  I think I've lost all modesty.  I'm pretty sure my DH even told his dad when I was losing my plug last time.  OMG so awkward.

I am 38 weeks and 2 days.  Not a single braxton hicks, nothing.  Although at 36 weeks and 5 days I was 1.5cm dilated and 50% effaced.  We were pretty surprised since I have felt nothing.  I have pretty bad pain in my hips when I do certain things, and my lower back hurts off and on, but thats about it....  When I was checked for dilation the baby was not all that low, but my MW says he's lower now, but I am not having any more vaginal exams so I wont know how dilated I am from now on.  Last time I knew the second I went into labor because I had had not a single braxton hicks that time either, so I am pretty sure it'll be the same thing this time as well, I will know right away.

With my friends, if we aren't talking about placenta, it's mucus!  lol.gif  Really though, I think we've all talked about our labor signs with each other..  Some days at our play group it's all about birth, leaking breasts and discharge.  ;)

I have been having pretty intense BH this time, definitely stopping me in my tracks in the last week.  I'm 35 weeks and paranoid about having this baby early so the ctx make me nervous, but they are definitely BH and not "this is labor" contractions.  But I get them throughout the day, and especially when I do... anything (getting in and out of the car, helping DS get dressed, loading the dishwasher, etc, etc).  I've been trying to keep up with staying hydrated, hoping that helps but so far no noticeable difference.

Last time I didn't lose my mucous plug until well into labor and my water didn't break until right before I felt like pushing and it was a big pop/gush that I definitely knew what it was!

Resting as much as possible until I hit 37 weeks and am ok for the homebirth we're planning! Though I'll probably go late after worrying about the early baby so much smile.gif

I think I've started to lose a little mucous. Very little. I just barely notice it when I wipe, definitely not chunks of it or anything. I've noticed it in the morning the last few mornings. And I noticed it a few times throughout the day today. I wish it was more than what it is, but I'll take it.

I'm also one with no modest when it comes to this kind of stuff. My friends know it all and I always knew with them as well. I was actually walking around Kohls today, talking to my SIL on the phone about the status of my mucous. Didn't dawn on me until later that the people around me probably didn't want to hear about that. lol.gif

I have tons of BH contractions especially at night. Cramps and back pain too. But I went through almost a month of prodromal labor with my 2nd baby, so for me, this is "normal" *sigh* My cervix is soft, still pretty thick, posterior and about 2cm. I check it myself.  34 weeks 3 days. Less than two week til I'm clear to have a homebirth- :) Not that I have ANY reason to thank I'll go early.

What position is the cervix in prior to labor? I used to check mine when charting, so I'm familiar with that. Last time I checked, it was super high. I couldn't even reach it. I'm guessing low for labor?

Often the cervix is tucked back during pregnancy such that it's hard to reach.  As you efface and dilate, the cervix is pulled to the sides and up.

Lower back pain, diarrhea and nausea?  Not sure if it's prelabor signs or the Indian food I just ate for dinner though.  :-)

Cramping, increased discharge, back and leg pain, excessive pooping, feeling of calmness, increase in pimples. I'm 37w5d, and my midwives will do a cervix check at my 38 w appointment if I want it, so I don't know the state of my cervix yet. I've had some definite contractions too, but nothing regular, and nothing that has really had me timing them.

Just wiped, and there was blood on the toilet paper!  None since, and that was about 2 or 3 hours ago... DH and I had sex yesterday, but I didn't bleed then, and this was definitely bright red and fresh, not day-old blood...

Lots of cramping and general discomfort today; some uncomfortable contractions.  Feeling generally crappy today, too.  Which probably just means I'm still pregnant and don't sleep well.

@Mrs. Katie...that sounds promising!!!  You might be next :) :)

ARGH!  Either my hips are seriously out of whack or I am having back labor.  It totally sucks.  It feels like the back labor I had with my first, except that I can hardly walk, but the first time walking was the only thing I wanted to do.  I just want to stop hurting. : (  I can't even take care of the kids.

A lot of small signs - increase in discharge (some bloody), lots of menstrual crampy back pain, random contractions that stop me in my tracks, loose stools, and just feeling really, really crappy today. Fingers crossed that it happens in the next couple of days!!! (I'm due Nov. 2nd)

Ohhh, it sounds like you're close too!  Pretty soon our DDC is going to be one birth announcement after another.  I still have another month, it seems like such a long ways off..

We have the same due date!  :)  I have had no blood, and no contractions or pains.  But I was 1.5cm dilated and 50% effaced at 36w 5d, so there is stuff happening, I just have no symptoms I guess.  I think I'll go pretty close or on my due date, sounds like you will be sooner tho, guess you never know!  I have been feeling very miserable the last few days tho.  Trying to get lots of cleaning done while having bad pain in the left side of my pelvis and the baby is just low and sometimes makes me sore, especially when he's in a position where he pushes his body out of me, that hurts lol.  I also have stabbing cervical pains, sometimes very often for hours, sometimes not at all, all day.

Oh yes, the stabbing cervical pain - I've had a few of those too! The symptoms hit me pretty suddenly, so it could start at any moment for you. I keep thinking that since this is my 4th child I will go soon and the labor will be fast, but I just watched a Baby Story the other day where the woman (who had a homebirth :) was having her 4th and went to 41 weeks and the labor took something like 12 hours. Ugh.

At my 38 wk check up I was 2 cm dilated - I forgot to ask about effacement. I have an appt on Wed and although I'd like to say I'd prefer not to be checked...I really, really want to know!

Actually had myself excited thinking today could be the day. Pretty sure I had contractions while I slept all night, they were in my dreams all night long and I slept very uncomfortably. I woke up in the middle of a pretty intense one. Got up to use the bathroom to see if that would make them go away, but was up for the next hour and a half with pains. They were pretty frequent, every 4-5 minutes, but most of them were pretty short. I had a handful of them that were a good 60-90 seconds long, almost felt like double-peaking. It would start to go away, then come back strong. But, they've stopped and now I'm just having BH again. greensad.gif
