Post Your Signs of Labor...Or False Alarms :) - Page 11

So after waking with pretty intense contractions the night before last, I have had them come and go for the last 36 hours. Ugh. They pick up at times (to every 4 mins for 30 mins or so, then they peter out to once an hour, etc). Frustrating.

Today I am trying to go about a normal day and keep my mind off of them. I've had a lot of blood-tinged discharge so I think my cervix is dilating slowly. Keeping my hopes up that this will kick into gear and I'll already be 6cm or something!

Wow, just had an intense one that lasted about a minute. So....hoping to have a baby sooner than later.

All of my births have been different -- DS1 was a long induction after close to a week of prodromal labor, DS2 was a 5 hour straight forward labor, DS3 was a LONG posterior labor, so I'm not sure how this one will pan out!

Here's to hoping things progress and that there's no emergency. hug2.gif praying.gif (prayers too)

Is this your first, Sarah?  In general I would wait until contractions are regular, increasing in frequency and intensity for more than an hour and you cannot get them to calm down by eating, drinking, relaxing, etc.  If you just get a few contractions in one hour, but nothing after that it sounds to me like your body is gearing up, doing some good work that is hopefully dilating you a bit, but not the real deal.

Thanks everyone! I haven't had time to really read through any of the threads I've been on but wanted to say good luck to the moms who are going into labor now.  I'll send good vibes your way!!  Once things settle down a bit, I'll come back and post more.  There's not as much time to rest this time since I've got a toddler too!

Gah. I'm making myself crazy. Again. I swore I was going to be more relaxed this time...but, I checked again (because I lost a chunk of mucus plug), 3cm now. I'm still feeling like it will be a week at least, but man...it sure feels like things are picking up...and I need to chill out!

I had myself convinced I would be chill waiting for labor.  After all, I'm a FTM, meaning I'll likely go late, and my mother went late for all four of us, so I had myself convinced I would be mid-November.  But reading everyone's symptoms, and having random could-be/may not be symptoms of my own has turned me into a looney toon.

With my first I was convinced I'd be late too! My mom went 3 weeks late with my brother (induced) then ended up with a c-section.. then 4 more c-sections :/ Then I up and went into labor at like 38w5d! or almost 38w5d.. it was just before midnight at 38+4! then my 2nd I went into labor at 39+3. I've been focusing on Nov 11 the whole pregnancy (edd is around the 9th) because that'd be such a cool birthday. But then I've been thinking lately, whoa, I'm not 100% sure of my dates this time (I was the other times) and I think I'm more likely to be a couple days further along than a couple days less. I'm 38+3 by my estimated date, but could be as much as 38+6 which REALLY puts me in the "any second now" category. Kinda mindboggling! Good thing the fishy pool arrived today? heh. I need to check out the rest of the birth supply list.. and get everything organized and together! And clean our bedroom really good! Ahhhh I've been focusing so much on the rest of the house :) Which is ironic because the real "nesting" needs to be occuring in MY NEST!

Oh and to add to that new realization that I really could go any time.. BHs are becoming more frequent and stronger! Not quite painful but I've had some big ones that felt pretty powerful. Its exciting! I relished the feeling :) Last night our church had a trunk or treat, and I was walking around the parking lot with the kids and having TONS! Makes me wonder what the real trick or treating will due to my uterus. Especially since our planned route is on a ridiculously steep hill. We'll be starting at the *top* (or I would probably collapse and die) but its still more of a work out than flat.

Hey, that's a good plan.  Go plan a really challenging route for trick-or-treating, and hope to get home before your water breaks!  orngbiggrin.gif  Think I'll do that if I don't go this weekend.  Stupid maybe-labor signs....I was having some major contrax all last nite, and more pink/red stuff this morning.  Still pregnant.  Bleah.

It really is crazy-making, this last month of pregnancy..!

That's where I'm at; I'm 39+1 today, but could be as much as 39+6.  I'm 100% certain I'm further along than 39+1, but not sure how much further; minimum 2 days but as much as 5.  So that's another reason I'm so dang impatient!

I guess we can't go by our mother's labors, can we... I've gone further now than she did with any of her 3, so now I feel like I have no idea what's gonna happen.

Membrane sweep #2 is on Monday, so at least I feel like something's happening.

I've been having pretty intense contractions today (a few hours of them 1 minute long, 5ish minutes apart, but still bearable) and apparently my husband is convinced that I'm in labor now. He even went out and bought labor snacks. But his friend is here now carving pumpkins and they've pretty much stopped...which is fine by me since I don't have the birth tub until Tuesday and my midwife and doula are at another birth right now.

Uuuuuggghhhhh Baby is super active and I've been having lots of BH ctx today.  They've been more uncomfortable than they were during my first pregnancy, but that's been the case for weeks (months?).  I get a slight backache with them, and I don't know why I have been having so many today.  I've also just felt "off" but maybe that's due to my shower having been today and I might not have paid as much attention to my water/food intake as I usually do.  I mean, I ate and drank enough, but I don't know.  It was just a weird day.   I REALLY hope none of this is pre-labor related, but I'm just putting it down here because I do feel so different.  And my SPD, oh my gosh.  Ouch.  Awful this evening.

I hope these BH will stop soon and baby will calm down enough for me to get some sleep.

Thank goodness my contractions settled down enough for me to sleep most of the night. Still woke me up plenty, but they were calmer and now it appears that she's finally LOA. Phew. She was OP yesterday morning so maybe just her crazy movements plus whatever prepping my cervix is doing was what did it yesterday. I would like to not repeat that again...though, it's nice to know that my husband gets slightly more sympathetic when he thinks I'm actually in labor. lol

Thanks Jaimee, yes this is my first, so not quite sure what to expect.  I don't mind my body gearing up - I just want my husband back in Canada (he's is Seattle with friends at a Seahawks game) and I've got another week of work left.....I guess it's not really up to me though :)

Have had diarrhea also and feeling really nauseous and yucky - boooo.

I agree - it is total crazy-making! Hopefully you're not prego for long :)

Anyone else feeling nausous and sick-like?

My baby was really active and I also had a million bh yesterday.  Maybe it was in the wind?  I swear I was having them every 5 minutes for a while.

Again, I hate being a newbie with everything. eyesroll.gif I went pee a little bit ago and when I stood up to flush the toilet, I saw a chunk of something white-ish, like the size of my pinky fingertip, sitting at the bottom of the toilet. I've never seen anything like it before. There was no blood, though. Must've been mucous plug? No place else it could've come from. I kind of wish I had taken a closer look before flushing but I wasn't going to fish it out, lol.

Of course then I read up on mucous plugs and it sounds like it still doesn't indicate when you'll go into labor if there's no bloody show. irked.gif bah humbug

It does sound like mucous plug, Joanie. I am kind of wondering about this little guy's decrease in movement. I know he's not engaged and it feels like there's plenty of room in there still. He really feels small. Both of my other kids had a significant decrease in movement around this time, but it was because there wasn't hardly any room in there anymore and they were both engaged and dropping.

This girl hasn't been moving as much in the past week either. But, she has dropped and finally got engaged, so pretty sure that's why. It does make me pay attention and she does move often enough, just not like she had been and her movements aren't as big as they were. She's pretty much staying put and out of room!

Oye.  I wish my babies slowed down at the end.  I think they get MORE active.  At least it feels that way since they are bigger.  DS1 didn't engage and this baby is still very high, too.  DS1 was posterior, so he was all limbs up front.  SO much movement.  This baby flips from anterior to posterior- I can always tell by if my belly is really oddly shaped or not.  Haha!
