the crampy soreness in the top of the uterus sounds like gas pains to me.  I got that a lot with DS1 (not so much this time).  But I know how uncomfortable it is!  Sorry you're experiencing all these weird sensations!

That is ALL I EVER feel when checking myself. I haven't even tried this pregnancy because I've never been able to figure out what the heck I'm feeling anyway. I'm damned curious, too, to know if all this insane pressure and random prodromal labor is doing anything except making me sore. Not enough to ask my midwife to tell me--I don't want to hear that it's not!

And even though I'm 39 weeks, 3 days, I'm still not ready. I just got the carseat all ready, but we're MOVING TOMORROW! And it's supposed to rain all day T_T

Goodness!  You're moving tomorrow?!

I just got back from today's clinical midwifery appointment. I'm so glad that was the last time I had to go to that place. Every time I go there, my BP is high and they get concerned. I swear their machine is broken. It's ridiculous. I must just subconsciously hate being there and spike my BP somehow. Today it was even higher because I was going on 4 hours of painful cramps and the thought of going into labor there scared the heck out of me, lol. Thankfully I got through the appointment fine and will know my GBS results in a few days. Oh, and I'm not dilated at all.

I just wish I knew what is going on with these cramps. I no longer think they can be gas cramps because they've been coming and going for almost 5 hours and I've gone to the bathroom a few times (which usually relieves gas cramps for me). If this is some twisted way that my uterus is gearing up without me going into labor for a few more weeks still, I'm gonna be one grumpy lady. The cramps wrapped around my uterus a few times and my whole back and abdomen are pretty much one throbbing ball of tension. I've had more intense pains in random places around my uterus. The baby has been moving so much all day, I could use a break. eyesroll.gif Oh and this boob pain is just compounding it all much worse. I thought my boobs wouldn't change more until after the birth?

UUUGH, xakana, that sucks about moving tomorrow--but at least it's better than moving 2 days postpartum, I can attest to that!  ;)

Ugh, I feel flu-y all of a sudden.  Now, DS1 has been sick with a tummy virus so I'm hoping I'm not just coming down with that.  I don't want this to be pre-labor yuckiness either, though.  Hoping I just start to feel better soon.  We'll see.  Losing some bits of mucus plug lately, too.

Midwife checked me today during the GBS swab (I wanted her too because she is going out of town for a week). 2cm, thick cervix, floating baby.. JUST what I thought when I checked myself. Good to know I'm guessing correctly! :)

I'm finally kind of getting the baby's room organized and ready- whoo hoo!

Good luck to you ladies with labor signs and broken waters!!!

Ooooh, wow KaliShanti!  2 cm!  I never dilated that much before labor with DS1.  That seems like great progress to me.  It makes me wonder if I am dilated- have you been having lots of crampiness or ctx?  I guess I thought that since I didn't *feel* like there was any change and because my baby is really floaty too, that there was no way I was dilated.  Maybe I'll have her check tomorrow....

I was 3cm the week before I went into labor with #1 and was 5cm a week before I went into labor with #2. So 2cm is not too much progress for me. ;) He'll probably be late! I do have lots of contrax but they are just BHs.

Speaking of checking for dilation...I asked the doc to do that today for the first time and then an hour later I had some discharge and it was pink in color - later on in the day I had more and it looked bloody and not so pink (sorry for the "bloody" details :)!)

I'm guessing this is the mucus plug - but could it also be a reaction from the doctor checking? It hurt when she did it.....

It was very likely from the cervical check. I had quite a bit of blood every time I was checked. My midwives said that pregnant women have particularly sensitive cervixes. Cervices?

ETA - my mucous plug was really gelatinous and snotty, and brownish-pink. Like a sea creature.

Sigh.  So the bloody show has tapered off, but this time I checked myself and am easily 4cm, maybe 5, almost completely effaced.  Baby is sooooo loooow, too.  Quite easy to check.  Contrax are pretty INfrequent today, but more in my back, dull-achey, and intense.  Seriously, body, get a move on already!  angry.gif

I even mopped the floor with a rag and bucket, and have been hip-circling on my birth ball all day.  HMPH.  I think my body likes to wait until my logical mind is convinced I just swallowed a watermelon seed before it gets labor in gear!  hammer.gif

Krystal, I'm pretty convinced you'll have a fast and intense labor since your body seems to be pretty serious about prolonging the "practice" contractions and you're almost half dilated.

AFM- Up and down all night with contractions. Stress induced, though. Tapered off.

Yes, most likely from the internal check.

Sounds like we're all in the same boat ladies. I've been constantly cramping all night. BH started feeling more "real" around 5 pm last night and were happening every 15 or so min, then got closer & more consistent every 5-8 min. I was able to sleep last night but every time I woke up to roll over I'd feel the cramping. Now I'm up & about, still just constant cramping. Ugh. It makes me very irritable. I feel bad for my 4 y.o. because she's just going to have an irritated mommy today. Might make today a movie day for both of our sanity.

What a weird night. At 12:30am I woke up hearing my cat howling like a dog outside my bedroom door. I opened the door so he and our other cat could hang out in the bedroom since I didn't have the heart to make them sit there sounding so sad. They ended up sitting on the bed completely silent just staring at me. The baby started hiccuping and kept me awake. Not ten minutes later and I started having contractions about 12 minutes apart. I was like.... whoa, these cats really are freaking me out now. LOL! I got up and watched some TV in the living room. I fell back asleep around 2:30. Whenever I lie down I'm having contractions now. Must be a positional thing? I'm so tired and out of it. It was nice to sleep and get a break from my back cramping at least. (Benadryl knocked me out, I was having such bad allergies last night.) Now that I'm awake the cramping is kind of flaring up again. *sigh* Almost going on 24 hours with that. eyesroll.gif I see my midwife in a half hour. Eager to hear what she says.

I'm just glad I know what contractions feel like now! It's about time. orngtongue.gif There was no mistaking these ones.

Sounds promising Joanie!  Let us know what your mw says!

So, you think Mal had her baby?

I bet she did! She's awfully silent this morning but she had been posting around 5am yesterday. winky.gif I bet she has a baby in her arms right now!

I have a feeling there will be quite a few more babies before the weekend. I want to hear some thorough birth stories dangit! I'm living for this stuff right now. LOL

I know, me too!  But, I know it's hard to sit down and type out a story, though, when you've got a newborn.
