Babywearing in Cold Weather

I'm still learning to use my pouch sling with my month-old son, and cold weather is presenting a challenge. Should I wear him under or over my own jacket or coat? When it gets really cold and I dress him in his own outwear to go out, is he even going to fit in this sling?

I prefer to dress baby warm (sweater, hat, etc.) but not outdoor appropriate & wear them close to me under my coat. I have found if we are both bundled in winter wear it's really bulky & uncomfortable & it's harder to monitor baby's temperature.

I prefer to wear DS next to my body.  I don't like the feel of wearing a carrier over my big jacket.  It's also much easier to have DS under my jacket, especially when going in and out of warm stores.  DS wears a hat, pants, longsleeve shirt, sweater, and robeez.  If I think DS needs to be warmer, I use my monkey pocket, which works really well!

I also like to have DS close to me without bunches of layers separating us! We usually wear a Mei Tai with a Peekaru vest, which is a fleece vest that fits over any soft structured carrier. It's so nice to not have to spend so much time bundling him up for the little bit we are outside in the cold weather. The company also makes a babywearing coat. www.togetherbe.com

Can you use the monkey pocket in a back carry? They look great!
