Really bad about keeping up on the new thread starting, but here it is.

No chat starters right now, so here's the old thread.

Has anyone else's little one gone through a major change to their sleep/awake pattern?

Seth turned 6 weeks on Wednesday, and for nearly the last week he's been waking up almost every hour during the day. He doesn't always need anything, just doesn't want to sleep. The only problem is he also wants to be held the whole time, not easy with a 16 month old to look after & play with too. Not to mention we're moving next week and I've hardly even touched the packing.

I remember that happening Lyn! We all were confused for awhile - what do we do? This is all new!  Very funny. I hope that you work out a good method of juggling!

I have a toes question.

I do my mostly-daily toe lint collection and between some of his toes, the skin is pealing. Do I worry about this?

Argh, thanks for the new thread!  I haven't been able to type much still.  Hunting and pecking and very little time to sit and do so!!

Dealing with lots of awake time here, too.  Luckily my guy is chill.  He loves his bouncy seat and jungle gym, and we'll do tummy time for a bit.  I try to keep him out of the swing if he isn't asleep.  I'm so afraid of flat head syndrome.

Becky - I wouldn't worry.  But you could try rubbing some grapeseed oil on his feet, that really helped with Finn's peely skin.

AFM - I ordered Finn a hazelwood necklace today, and am anxious to see if it helps with his acid reflux.  I figure it can't hurt, and I picked a really pretty one!  DH balked at the price ($30) but I think if it helps it's worth every penny.

Magnolia has weird sleeping patterns. She'll be awake almost the entire day one day, then she'll sleep most of the day the next day to recover from all that awake time. Today is an awake day- all my requests for naps have been firmly vetoed.

Carrie- where did you order from? I've seen articles about how a lot of amber now is fake amber so I'm kind of nervous about ordering an amber necklace from just anywhere. I really haven't had time to search out a company with a good rep though.

I was going to order from Hazelaid but I wasn't digging any of their colors.  I got one from Etsy.  I ordered from this seller:

I don't see just amber necklaces there though.  The amber I have is from Inspired By Finn (ironically).

I've been meaning to get an Amber necklace too, and I've heard good things about Inspired by Finn. Thanks for the reminder!

Toe lint! OMG, how does this child have so much of it? And also, he has dirt under his nails all the time. I guess he's sneaking out at night and playing in the yard or something. Either that or my house is just dirtier than I realize.

Ada is much like Magnolia when it comes to sleep.  Yesterday she wanted to sleep all day, today she's only been asleep maybe an hour since 8:30 this morning.  She just wants to be held and talked to.  She cracks me up...I'll put her in the bouncy seat next to me and her eyes will be on me at all times.  When I'm looking at her she's grinning and cooing at me but as soon as I look away she starts this fake cry/yell kinda thing like "Pay attention to me NOW!".  So cute!

Ada finally quit with the peely stuff.  Both my girls did that.

Ada's hands get dirty too...I'm like what the heck???  She gets lint and stuff in her hands, its gross.  She has the sweatiest, clamiest little hands though.

Dominic is being annoying with his sleep habits. Only on top of me but he refuses to nurse to sleep right now unless it is at night, during the day he prefers to be bounced to sleep. Dude! You are the 4th kid, just be happy with the boob I shove in your mouth and chill out! I can not put him down for anything, I used to be able to get him deeply asleep and then stick him in the carseat or in the swing, it would only last maybe 20 minutes, but 20 minutes is 20 minutes. Now he wakes up every single time. Not to mention my only computer time is while nursing, and that is gets really limited if he only wants to eat and be done. We are doing definite awake and sleep timed now. He will be 3 months old next week, if he has been awake too long then he starts getting grumpy. He refused to be bounced to sleep at open gym this morning instead he squalled every time I tried to put him in the sling, he just wanted to look around at everything. The easier sleep a lot of the time days have already ended. And I have a hand eater! He gnaws on them any chance he gets. I'm wondering if he is going to be a thumb sucker when he can eventually separate it from the rest of his fingers. Still gassy and fussy here. It is better but I've had to walk out of several events this week because he wouldn't calm down.

Madeline, my DD1, got moved to the competitive gymnastic team this week. It is making me realize just how much our current house is not working out at all. It hasn't been for a while but the added late night practices that are only going to increase with the older my kids get. Our location is 20 minutes one way from school, 15 minutes from the gym, 20 minutes from dance. It is a LOT of back and forth, no bus service or car pooling because of our location. Any snow and because all that driving is on highways, it takes twice as long. We can't sell right now, we owe more then our house is worth now. Of course now is the time to buy. I've been looking around and there is a screaming deal on a huge lot in town which are almost unheard of these days. It is an old town, no lots are left. It is actually cheaper for us to build then to buy because my dad would built at his cost.  I'm trying to convince DH to even think about it. Maybe we could shift enough things around to buy and sit on it until we could build. It is probably just a pipe dream but a nice dream, I would love not to live in my car. greensad.gif We bought our current house 4.5 years ago so we could be only 20 minutes from my parents and then they never come see us anyway. What a waste.

wave.gif Having trouble keeping up, and now I have a cold. hmph! I hope DD doesn't get it! I have to say it's kind of weird for me sometimes cause DD was born so much earlier than many babies on here. I feel a little abnormal when things happen to us (like drooling and sleeping changes) but then a month later a bunch of ladies start talking about it on here. lol...glad these things can be normal!

I know some of you ladies use tapatalk, but I was wondering if there was a free option for something similar. I can't pay for an app, since I don't have cell phone service right now, but my wifi works fine and I can still download/browse the internet with it and use apps that need the net.

I always use a cc to pay for apps, and if you buy tapatalk you could use it over wifi.  Right?  Otherwise I just use my built in android browser.

Whining. DD2's birthday is Sunday. We have a party booked at the gym, it was supposed to be with her favorite coach but the not so favorite coach is the one that left the reminder message about it tonight, not a good sign. I invited 14 kids, all the kids in her preschool class. 2 said yes, 1 didn't say anything but then asked what DD2 likes so I'm taking that as a yes, 1 said no. I have no freaking clue about all the rest. Almost all the families have multiple kids and I said siblings were welcome. The price is set for one coach and 15 kids, I can pay extra and get another coach and another 15 kids which I'm fine with but I have no clue if I need another coach or not. I don't want to call and say maybe, and then have 4 kids show up. The favorite coach would of been fine if extra kids showed up, the not so favorite one is a stickler for rules. I hate people sometimes.

Absolutely! :)

Peony: Thank you for reminding me that I always want to add "If you don't RSVP, you aren't coming!" to all invites. That makes me crazy. I think maybe people don't know what it means? Or they just suck :D

Drooling?  Dun dun DUN...that is your gentle introduction to approximately two years of teething hell.  Welcome!  winky.gif  For your sake I hope my kids' teething history comes from Chris' side of the family...Nell popped her first tooth THROUGH the gum on her 3 month birthday, and Maggie waited so sedately until she was 4 months old.

Magnolia slept all of 30 mins from 7 this morning until 8 tonight. I FINALLY got her to go to sleep at 8:00pm. Its now almost midnight and I'm debating between waking her up, feeding her and hoping she sleeps the rest of the night or just going to bed and letting her wake me whenever...
omg, late on the ball here, southern, but I hope you just went to bed and enjoyed a nice long night of sleep! orngbiggrin.gif

Carlyle, does the drooling mean imminent tooth for your kiddos? Anika started about 2 weeks ago and then it went away, so I figured it was reflux related, but maybe a tooth was just moving around? Kiss those sweet toothy girls for me! love.gif

IME "teething" is so possible right now.  Get your babies amber necklaces!!  I've heard wonderful things!  So far, Finn isn't showing any signs.  Just normal hand sucking/chewing.  Barely drooling.

We still can't side lie nurse.  Tear, are you guys able to?  Maybe reflux babies just can never do it.  I'm soooo tired of sitting up for nighttime feedings.  it's not so bad when it's only twice, which it normally is (at 4 and at 7, or 3 and 6) but he's been nursing much more frequently at night the past 2 nights and Im FRIED.  I tried this morning and he still barfed, even came through his nose which really pissed him off, and then he couldn't settle so I put him in the swing.  He slept another hour and so did I.

Coffee is my friend, and I stumbled into the kitchen to find DH had set the pot up last night and I had an entire cozy warm carafe waiting for me.  Gosh, I love that man. love.gif

Carrie, it seems hit or miss with the side lie nursing. Yesterday I did it and she fell asleep and slept next to me in bed for a couple hours. But other times she'll spit up. I hope that as Finn gets older his tummy is able to handle it! hug.gif We've noticed a difference from month 2-3.
